NEW PRODUCTS & SERVICES TEST & MEASUREMENT PCTEL Launches SeeGull IBflex In-Building Scanning Receiver PCTEL, Inc. has released the SeeGull IBflex scanning receiver. The IBflex increases the ease and efficiency of in-building wireless network testing and scans all major cellular technologies, bands, and WiFi in a single walk test. The flexible design and its unique "hot swap battery system" reduces total testing time and unwanted interruptions. Designed for the complex in-building environment, the IBflex offers a small form factor and is lightweight for easy carrying. Its low power consumption and hot swap batteries extend walk testing duration. For added convenience during and after data collection, the IBflex supports both wired and wireless connectivity to a laptop or tablet. Users can also store data directly to a USB flash drive or SD card. "Mobile device users consume 90 percent of their data indoors and they expect a seamless in-building experience on both cellular and WiFi networks," said David Neumann, PCTEL's vice president and general manager, RF Solutions. "Thanks to its innovative feature set, the IBflex has the potential to increase the efficiency of both in-building wireless network testing and the networks themselves. The IBflex has the measurement accuracy, dynamic range, and scanning speed for traditional drive testing as well." The scanner's field-upgradeable software configuration supports any cellular band from 570 MHz to 3.8 GHz, while WiFi support covers both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Currently supported cellular technologies include LTE FDD, TD-LTE, CDMA, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, EV-DO, and GSM. The IBflex is also multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) ready, featuring dual-port scanning for advanced LTE optimization. Anite Launches Enhanced Emulation Capacity for LTE-A Testing Anite has launched a major multi-link emulation enhancement to its Propsim channel emulator platform, increasing the performance testing capacity of LTE-Advanced multi-mode chipsets, devices and base stations and enabling users to save up to 150 percent in test tools CAPEX compared to investing in multi-box solutions. The enhanced multi-link emulation capacity in a single Propsim F32 box eliminates the need to synchronize several emulator boxes, this speeds up the development and verification of new devices and base stations. With this new platform release, users are able to create larger test scenarios in a lab environment, with twice as many devices and base stations as any other solution available on the market. LTE-A device testing with large lab setups enable users to conduct more realistic performance testing, accurately testing the end user experience in the live network. Propsim F32 enables comprehensive testing of new LTE-Advanced features such as Carrier Aggregation, ICIC and eICIC (enhanced Inter Cell Interference Coordination) using real-world like scenarios for each user independently. With enhanced emulation capacity, Propsim F32 now supports performance testing of four LTE devices and four LTE base station cells, or up to 10 LTE devices connected to two base stations when conducting Carrier Aggregation or handover testing. "Users benefit from huge productivity gains thanks to our latest Propsim innovation, which offers twice the testing capacity of any other available solution" said Paul Beaver, products director at Anite. "The unique multi-link emulation capacity coupled with leading LTE test scenario creation tools makes Propsim an unrivalled testing solution for LTE-A Carrier Aggregation and HetNet performance testing." The multi-link emulation capacity enhancement is available as a simple software upgrade for customers with an Anite maintenance contract. The platform enhancement increases the emulation capacity of Virtual Drive Testing, Over-The-Air Testing and Advanced MIMO Testing.
