EDITOR'S CHOICE Antenna Miniaturization Technology Enables High Data Rates in Tight Spaces Pulse Electronics Corp. has introduced a new method of constructing antennas to enable high data rates in tight spaces that require 3×3 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) configurations such as tablets, laptops, and notebook computers. Pulse's new DenseAnt TL 1.0 advanced manufacturing antenna technology fits three WLAN antennas in physically the same volume as was used for two LDS antennas without compromising performance or isolation. The antenna is composed of high dielectric materials to realize a 4-decibel improvement in isolation over standard plastic substrates, achieving higher performance even when integrated in close proximity with each other. The antennas are customized for each application and configuration, optimizing them for size and performance. CETECOM Selects Anite's Propsim F32 Channel Emulator for MIMO OTA Testing Anite has announced that its Propsim F32 Channel Emulator has been selected by CETECOM for its anechoic MIMO Over-the-Air (OTA) test laboratory in the US. The laboratory has been set up to perform device testing compliant with the CTIA standardized MIMO OTA test plan released earlier this autumn. Propsim F32 supports all CTIA channel model requirements (both MIMO and Transmit Diversity testing) allowing users to comprehensively and quickly verify that mobile devices meet expected industry requirements. CETECOM selected Anite's Propsim F32 for its unique ability to support LTE and LTE-Advanced device testing, incorporating up to 32 channels in a single unit, thereby simplifying set-up and reducing cost. Propsim F32 offers test laboratories and device manufacturers an easy upgrade path, which includes multi component Carrier Aggregation as well as support for frequencies up to 6 GHz enabling the testing of Wi-Fi capable devices. Its superior emulation accuracy and quicker test execution result in more reliable test results and quicker device assessment. Manufacturers are introducing MIMO capable LTE devices equipped with multiple antennas to enable users to access higher data rate applications, which is driving the need for new testing methodologies incorporating the device antenna performance. Paul Beaver, Products Director at Anite's Device & Infrastructure Testing business said, "We are delighted to continue our collaboration with CETECOM by contributing our channel model expertise and solutions to help them establish a state-of-the-art MIMO OTA test laboratory. Anite is the only test and measurement vendor that offers an integrated 32-channel 6 GHz solution, approved by all major systems integrators."
