New Products • Power Supplies Custom input and output options are available. The PFH 2K series is built with two PFH 65F internal modules that utilize field-proven design topology to provide 1 kW each. The modular construction of the series provides inherent redundancy; the failure of one internal module would result in a 50 percent drop in output power, while the unit remains functional at 1 kW. This design may therefore also be used as a 1 kW redundant power supply. A module fail alarm indicates the loss of AC power. A green LED, which is visible on each internal module through the cooling slots, indicates an output “ON” condition. Designed for operation in heavy-duty environments, the internal models are ruggedized and conformal coated for immunity to shock, vibration and moisture. They meet EN61373/ IEC61373 shock and vibration standards. The PFH 2K series are housed in ruggedly constructed 5 inch by 5 inch by 12.5 inch chassis. Cooling is by high quality internal fans, which provide sufficient airflow for operation from 0ºC to 50ºC cold-plate temperature without de-rating. Extended temperature ranges, including for sub-zero operating conditions, are also available. The power factor is corrected to a minimum of 0.97 at full load for the entire input range, in compliance with the EN6100-3-2 directive for low input harmonic distortion. These units are filtered to meet EN55022 EMI standards. Full electronic protection minimizes the possibility of failure due to abnormal operating conditions, including application errors. Generous design headroom and the use of designed-in components with established reliability result in a high MTBF. Standard versions of the PFH 2K are priced in the $860 range each at quantities of 100. ICCNexergy Introduces External Power Supply ICCNexergy, Inc. has launched its 220 W desktop power supply line, which meets EISA, EuP level V efficiency standards and delivers a full 220 W at all DC output voltages compared to current offerings in the market that are limited to 180 W in the 12 V and 18 V DC output voltages. The MWA220 (approved to 60601) has been designed for use in motorized applications such as hospital beds and orthopedic designs, while the FWA220 (approved to 60950) is well suited for applications with high power requirements such as large displays or large LED systems. The MWA220 and FWA220 delivers 220 W of power at 90 to 264 VAC without derating, while other 220 W desktop power supplies require a minimum of 100 VAC to be rated at 220 W and may not be able to draw a full 220 W in countries such as Japan. The MWA/FWA220 is IPX1 rated, enabling safe use in areas where dripping water, leaks and spills may occur. All models feature a status indication LED and are backed by a five-year limited warranty. TDI Develops New 12 Volt Standard Medical Cart Power Supply for Lithium Ion and SLA Batteries Today’s mobile carting solutions are technologyrich with a variety of personal computing, ergonomic, power, security and storage options. TDI Power’s focus is on the technology that powers the carts, having created a solution that combines the latest battery technology with advanced engineering and design. TDI Power has recently developed a 12 volt standard medical power supply. The unit is targeted at hospitals that want to retrofit their existing carts with power. Features include a cart mountable power source suitable for multiple battery chemistries, a wide range AC input (90 to 250 VAC), eight to 10 hours of battery run time;and charge and power full load simultaneously. 260 Watt Convection Cooled AC-DC Single Output 1U Low Profile Power Supply The Absopulse Electronics PFH 2K series of rugged, industrial grade AC/DC switching power supplies with PFC-input deliver up to 2 kW continuous output power. Several units may be paralleled for even higher power. These power supplies convert a universal ac-input voltage (95 to 264 VAC) to 36 VDC/60 A, 48 VDC/40 A, 54 VDC/37 A, 110 VDC/18 A or 125 VDC/16 A. 2 kW AC/DC Power Supply with PFC-Input and Inherent Redundancy for Industrial Applications Power Sources Unlimited, Inc. has released the XL375 series of single output 260 W low profile convection cooled AC-DC power supplies. The XL375 series is a family of 1U profile convection cooled ACDC power supplies. Measuring 3.3 inches by 5 inches by 1.5 inches, the single and multiple output XL375 series has a universal active PFC 90 to 264 VAC input, and output voltages of 12, 24, 28, 36, 40, 48, 54 and 56 VDC. Units feature up to 93 percent efficiency, active current sharing for N, N+1 with OR-ing Board option, remote On-Off and active in rush current protection. 24 Battery Power • January/February 2012 www.BatteryPowerOnline.com http://www.BatteryPowerOnline.com
