Testing & Monitoring * New Products New GTS Battery Test System Automatically Replaces the Bad Ones on Site Global Technology Systems, Inc. (GTS) has released its "Test & Replace" technology now enables its customers to quickly and accurately identify bad battery packs in the work area, and automatically receive a replacement, without disrupting normal work routines. GTS is currently making its new GTS Tester, Smartphone App and link to its cloud-based server available at no cost to its enterprise customers. In the announcement, GTS Chairman Larry Murray called the new GTS Test & Replace System an important breakthrough in battery power management. "After several thousand field tests in customer facilities, we found that we can reduce the number of batteries they need by more than 10 percent, cut their mobile device operating costs by more than 20 percent, and cut device downtime. It's a much more efficient way to repower mobile devices in retail, logistics and transportation. The guessing is eliminated, and inventories are clean, balanced and reduced." Customers can control this process themselves, and automatically get replacement batteries at the locations where they are needed. In addition, the T&R System is linked to a process for recycling the bad batteries as they are identified. Servato Launches Network Battery Management Appliance Servato Corp. has launched a remote management appliance, the Smart Power System-148 (SPS-148). The appliance builds upon the SPS line's unique capabilities and value proposition for automated management and monitoring of standby batteries. No other solution in the market today has Servato's demonstrated ability to optimize battery life by intelligently and adaptively managing batteries based on proprietary state of health data and predictive analytics. The SPS-148 utilizes Servato's proprietary Adaptive Charge Management technology to extend the life of stationary lead-acid batteries and reduce associated maintenance costs. Built to monitor a singlestring of 12V batteries or to be daisy-chained to monitor additional strings, the new appliance is the smallest in the SPS product line and can be used in space-constrained cabinets. The smaller form factor expands the universe of sites addressable by Servato technology. Several customers including FairPoint, New Lisbon Telephone Company, and Gila River Telecommunications have already pre-ordered the product. FairPoint has had pilot units installed for several weeks. "FairPoint has been deploying Servato appliances for over two years in New England. We've seen the benefits of adaptive charging and the insights gathered from the managed appliance. The SPS-148 will help us deploy the technology to more sites due to its smaller size and more flexible installation options. We are excited to now have the option to extend Servato's technology to more of our network," said Jim Caron, Network Engineering Manager of FairPoint New England. The SPS-148 also extends Servato's Internet of Things (IoT) offering by expanding the solution's monitoring and management capabilities beyond batteries.
