Motor-CAD EMag Design Module

Motor Design Ltd. has developed a comprehensive set of software solutions for designing electric motors. The Motor-CAD
EMag module is an ultra-fast 2D-FEA based module for electric
motor magnetic performance simulations.
Motor-CAD EMag provides a range of motor type templates
that includes brushless permanent magnet (inner and outer
rotor), synchronous and 3 phase induction machines. The
Motor-CAD EMag software includes automatic and customizable winding design with a comprehensive visual editor. The
programs FEA solver has been specifically optimized to provide ultra-fast results.
Motor-CAD E Mag utilizes a comprehensive magnetic materials data base and editor. The module includes a wide range of electronic drive options. The visual projections include a wide range of diagrams,
maps and models. The Motor-CAD EMag module seamlessly interfaces to the Motor-CAD Therm and
Motor-CAD Lab modules to provide a user with a fully comprehensive solution.

Heidenhain Now Offers CNC for Auxiliary Axes

Heidenhain now offers the PNC 610 control system for auxiliary axes for modular expansion of the TNC
hardware. The independently working PNC 610 enables machine tool builders to realize modular and
scalable automation solutions for handling workpieces and tools in order to respond to the end users'
respective requirements in an optimum manner.
Auxiliary axes and principal axes can be interpolated with the PNC 610, and are usually used to perform
movements on the periphery, such as in tool magazines or workpiece handling systems.
The PNC 610 can be connected to other machine system parts or to CNC controls via standard automation interfaces (TCP/IP, PROFIBUS-DP and PROFINET-IO). It is used to program axis movements in the
integrated PLC. Established common PLC functions and HEIDENHAIN software tools from the TNC controls are also available for the PNC 610, for example, Teleservice or VNC can be utilized during setup via
one of two Ethernet interfaces.
A recommendation for machine builders is to use the PNC 610 in combination with the UEC or UMC
compact inverters as a very compact way for integration. If visualization is required, an ITC 755 industrial screen can be used with ASCII keyboard. Customized graphics can be written with the Python OEM
option, for which 10 MB of memory is provided.

Compact Chokes for Drive Technology Applications

SMP Sintermetalle Prometheus GmbH & Co KG (SMP), manufacturer of inductive components and softmagnetic materials, presents chokes for frequency converters and other drive technology applications.
The compact, low-loss chokes have a space-efficient design and good EMC characteristics.
Frequency converters have installed the chokes both at the input, where they provide power recovery,
and at the converter's output, where they act as filter chokes. Because of their space-saving design
and low-noise operation, SMP's chokes are also used in frequency converters' internal DC links, as both
single and common-mode chokes. The components' cores consist of powder composites with low magnetostriction, which SMP specifically engineers for each application. With their low eddy current and hysteresis losses, the materials contribute to the components' exceptional efficiency. Their encapsulated design
ensures that the components emit only low-intensity stray fields, another requirement in frequency converters, which allows other components to be placed in close proximity to the choke without running a
risk of magnetic interaction with the choke. With their compact design, SMP's chokes occupy 25 percent
less space than conventional components.
