Power patented SurgeX Advanced series mode surge elimination technology, which is completely non-sacrificial and eliminates all surge energy without producing harmful side effects such as ground contamination or common-mode disturbances. Surge protection technology also includes common mode and normal mode Impedance Tolerant EMI/RFI filtering, SurgeX ICE (inrush current elimination), and COUVS (catastrophic over/under voltage shutdown). HP Unveils Two UPS’s with Power Protection Support for Virtualized Environments HP has unveiled the HP UPS R1500 G3 and the HP UPS R/T3000 G2, high-density and high-efficiency uninterruptible power systems (UPS) for customers managing space-constrained rack environments. With new communication firmware, shutdown protection software and an optional network management card, these systems can communicate directly in a variety of networking environments such as the Web and complex virtualized environments. The HP R/T3000 G2 UPS packs up to 3,300 volt amps (VA) and 3,000 watts (W) into a space-saving, 2U design. Proven digital signal processor (DSP) technology ensures clean, reliable power protection in an transformer-less design that also reduces generated heat. The HP R/T3000 G2 UPS includes a rack-to-tower conversion kit for non-rack applications outside the data center or to support multiple tower servers, wiring closets, and blade enclosures. The HP UPS has an exclusive enhanced battery management (EBM) technology that can double the battery life in comparison to competitive batteries on the market. With EBM, the need to regularly replace and recycle old batteries is reduced. EBM features an advance self-testing system that provides a 30-day prefailure warning, leaving sufficient time for customers to replace the hot-swappable batteries before trouble occurs. Bundled with HP’s new Power Protector software, the HP UPS R1500 G3 and HP UPS R/T3000 G2 feature serial and USB ports for data exchange with the host computer and remote shutdown. The optional HP UPS Network Module provides additional functionality, such as scheduled shutdowns, additional operating systems support including VMware and Hyper-V, and redundant UPS support for no single point of failure. Eaton Delivers Power Monitoring and Measurement at the Individual Outlet Level Eaton Corp. has released its Advanced Monitored and Managed ePDU products for power distribution management at the rack enclosure level, with the ability to monitor and control power consumption at the individual outlet level. These models support a range of applications, from networking closets to enterprise data centers to high-density and blade servers. Designed for the needs of the modern data center, both Advanced Monitored and Managed ePDU technologies monitor critical factors such as voltage, current and power factor. The Advanced Monitored outlet number identifications are color coded on the units to match the outlet section to the appropriate circuit breaker. The ePDU configurations are available with eight different input plugs, featuring 200 to 240 volt power output to C13 and C19 outlets. In addition, the environmental monitoring probe is available to track internal and external temperatures, humidity and contact closure at the rack level. This allows the ePDU to operate in elevated temperatures up to 50°C, in turn reducing cooling costs. Each model also features an advanced LCD display that provides outlet and section current information, voltage and kilowatt-hour readings at a single glance with local buttons to easily navigate the menu. SurgeX Space Savers Offer Maximum Protection With Minimum Footprint SurgeX has introduced its new rear-mount surge suppressors, the Space Saver line. With this line, SurgeX provides an efficient, space saving unit that provides maximum protection. The line features two products, the Compact Mount and the Vertical Mount and both units can be mounted with plugs facing up or down for maximum convenience and flexibility. The Space Saver line of surge suppression products keeps power distribution neatly organized at the back of the rack and provides easy access to power cable configuration and enables integrators to eliminate the hassles of installing custom length power cords required by large racks. The Compact Mount can mount anywhere and is available with 2, 18 or 24 outlets. The Vertical Mount features a fixed bracket and hinge to open and close as needed as well as eight grounded AC outlets (six switched, two always on). Both units feature a remote interface and remote indicator LED, over/under voltage protection LED, power on/off LED and self test LED, as well as two power configurations: 15 Amp/120 Volt and 20 Amp/120 Volt. As with all SurgeX products, the Space Savers come with the 22 Marway Power Solutions Introduces Popular Power Distribution Unit as Standard Product Marway Power Solutions has introduced its model MPD 100R003 PDU. Previously available only as a modified custom solution, this rack-mount, singlephase PDU meets a variety of power quality, protection and distribution requirements at an affordable cost. The MPD 100R-003 model supports up to 24 amps continuously at 120 VAC and is well suited for industrial computing, control systems and automatic test equipment (ATE) that require a single-phase, EIA-310 compliant PDU in a compact design. The 1U (1.75 inch high) unit conveniently mounts in the front or rear of a 19-inch rack enclosure and sports a zinc plated steel chassis for durability The unit includes two 5-15R, 120 volt NEMA receptacles conveniently located on the front of the unit and six receptacles on back. For overcurrent protection the PDU features a hydraulic magnetic circuit breaker on the front panel that protects downstream equipment by opening the power line if too much current is being consumed. The PDU’s power line filter also protects against common-mode and differential-mode noise and harmonics in September/October 2011 www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com http://www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com
