Editor’s Choice McLean Cooling System Offers Flexible Heat Removal for Outdoor Enclosures Pentair Technical Product’s has unveiled its McLean brand Direct Air Cooling System (DACS) for cooling electronics in outdoor applications. DACS is an alternative to closed loop cooling solutions for a range of applications. Utilizing quiet fan-based technology, enclosures equipped with a DACS cooling unit draw filtered ambient air into the enclosure to dissipate heat. The system is available in four standard models, a range of sizes from 29 to 56 inches high and with Hydrophobic Gore and MERV 12 filtration styles. DACS units can be customized to suit many applications. Models are available in aluminum, stainless steel and diverse paint options to compliment individual enclosures. Additionally, with power input options of 24 V, 48 V, 115 V and 230 V, DACS is built to meet individual application requirements. For applications prone to moisture exposure, models equipped with Hydrophobic Gore filters that utilize microporous membrane. The filter is permeable to air while simultaneously preventing water and other corrosive particles from infiltrating the enclosures. Alternatively, models featuring MERV 12 pleated filters provide a cost-effective solution with off-the-shelf convenience. Since DACS models have distinct filtration capabilities, users can select the unit best able to accommodate the specific protection needs for their application. All models are equipped with a controller to adjust fan speed based on temperature. This control provides soft start and precise current limiting at start up, noise reduction and energy efficiency. The controller also delivers alarm logic so preventative measures can be taken. A composite alarm is provided for high temperature, loss of power and failure of temperature sensor. HP Intelligent Series Racks Offer Monitoring Capabilities for Data Center Asset Management HP has introduced its HP Intelligent series racks. These server racks are well suited for SMB, government and enterprise data centers seeking operating efficiencies, maximization of IT capacity and improved asset management. The HP Intelligent series racks offer intelligence capabilities for asset management, structural integrity, cooling and cable management advances, and a choice of power and switching options. These capabilities communicate to the datacenter manager the U space, row and rack location of each server. The HP Intelligent series include a rack door that is 81 percent open, which is up to 26 percent more than standard racks. In addition, HP Location Discovery Services send the rack identification number and U location to the servers installed in the racks. This provides important location informa- Thousands of enclosures Hundreds of sizes Next-day shipping 4 (206-A-10164)-16.75x5.125.indd 1 September/October 2012 www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com http://www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com
