EMI/EMC/ESD CFS Conductive Foam Now Offered with UL94-V1 Rating Leader Tech has released its CFS conductive foam material with an optional UL94-V1 flammability rating. The EMI shielding material from Leader Tech is well suited for intricate die-cut gaskets commonly found in I/O panel, backplane and access panel applications. The low compression CFS conductive foam shielding material is manufactured in sheets up to 1 m by 1 m. The material is offered in three standard thicknesses and has a low-resistance polyester fabric surface and a resilient Nickel-Copper polyurethane foam center. A conductive, pressure sensitive adhesive provides fast and easy installation. Leader Tech’s CFS gaskets deliver a typical shielding effectiveness of 60 dB between 10 MHz to 3 GHz. In addition, the conductive foam exhibits a compression load of 2.1 psi at 30 percent compression and has an operational temperature range from -40°F to 156°F. Agilent Technologies Introduces LCR Meter for Testing High-Frequency Passive Components Agilent Technologies, Inc. has introduced the E4982A LCR meter, the newest addition to its LCR family of meters. The Agilent E4982A delivers added performance for manufacturing passive components such as SMD inductors and EMI filters, where impedance testing at frequencies of 1 MHz to 3 GHz is required. Makers of chip inductor/EMI filters and integrators of chip inductor/EMI filter test systems are driven by the need for accurate and repeatable inductance, quality factor and impedance measurements. They are also under continual pressure to improve throughput and test yield while keeping test costs low. The Agilent E4982A offers 0.8 percent basic impedance measurement accuracy and repeatable measurements with small measurement variation. It also delivers measurement speeds of 0.9 ms, 2.1 ms or 3.7 ms. The meter’s accuracy improves test quality, while its measurement speed translates into fast test throughput. The E4982A is compatible with the current industry-standard Agilent 4287A LCR meter, while offering greater performance. SCPI commands and handler interface function for the E4982A are compatible with the Agilent 4287A LCR meter as well, allowing customers to leverage their earlier investments and expertise in the software. New ON Semiconductor Active Spread Spectrum Clock Generator ICs for EMI Reduction ON Semiconductor has introduced a new series of active spread spectrum clock generator integrated circuits (ICs) that manage electromagnetic interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) at the clock source, delivering system-wide EMI reduction of all clock dependent signals. The P3P8203A LVCMOS peak EMI reduction clock generator supports an input voltage of 3.3 V, a frequency range of 18 MHz to 36 MHz, and analog control of spread spectrum deviation by means of an external resistor. By choosing a different value of the external resistor to provide the desired amount of spread spectrum deviation at the output, system designers now have the added flexibility to customize their applications to achieve the desired EMI reduction. The P3P8203A is housed in an 8-pin, 2 by 2 by 0.8 mm WDFN package, making it well suited for use in PCB space constrained applications. Operating temperature range is 0°C to +70°C. The P3MS650100H and P3MS650103H LVCMOS peak EMI reduction clock generators are designed for use in PCB space constrained applications such as portable, battery powered devices, including mobile phones and tablets where EMI/RFI can be a significant challenge and compliance with regulations is a prerequisite. Housed in a miniature four-pin WDFN package measuring 1 by 1.2 by 0.8 mm, these versatile devices are spread spectrum clock generators that provide a small standalone active solution for reducing EMI/RFI at the clock source as well as downstream clock and data signals derived from the clock source. The P3MS650100H and P3MS650103H support input voltages ranging from 1.8 V to 3.3 V, typical spread spectrum deviations of 0.45 percent to 1.4 percent, and reduction of EMI/RFI in clock sources with a frequency range of 15 MHz to 60 MHz. Operating temperature range is -20ºC to 85ºC. 14 AVX’S MLC Capacitor Series Provides Protection Against ESD Strikes AVX Corp. has developed a series of MLC capacitors specifically designed for general ESD protection. Available in standard 0603, 0805 and 1206 case sizes, the ESD-Safe MLC Chips’ small footprint makes them well suited for high density electronic devices, which often use ESD caps on nearly every pin. ESD-Safe X7R series capacitors are designed to protect generalpurpose I/O gates from ESD damage during the connector to wiring harness mating operation. The AECQ200-qualified chips are available in 25, 50 and 100 V, feature a +/- 15 percent capacitance variation and are rated for use in temperatures ranging from -55°C to 125°C. The series is also available with Flexiterm soft terminations, which allow for more than twice as much board flexure as standard terminations and protect the electrical integrity from external forces.
