Moxa Introduces Industrial-Strength Data Line
Surge Protectors
Moxa has introduced the ISD-1000
series of data line surge protectors
engineered to guard data and hardware from harmful transient energies
resulting from the switching of nearby
equipment. All four ISD-1000 models
feature line-to-line and line-to-ground
protection, and are rated for -40°C to
85°C temperatures.
The ISD-1110-T (RS-232) and ISD1130-T (RS-422/485) are in-line surge protectors, designed for
general purpose use. Both models provide 4 kV of surge protection, and are certified to IEC 61000-4-5 Level 4 standard. The
ISD-1210-T (RS-232) and ISD-1230-T are DIN-rail or panel mount
models, designed for industrial use. Both models provide 20 kV of
surge protection, and are certified to the demanding IEC 61643-21
C2 standard.
New PDUs with Outlet-Level Monitoring
Tripp Lite has introduced three singlephase switched power distribution units
(PDUs) with individual outlet current monitoring. The switched PDUs offer users the
ability to turn on, turn off, recycle or lock
out power to individual receptacles as well
as locally and remotely monitor each receptacle’s output power consumption.
The PDU features built in current
monitoring with 1 percent billing grade accuracy, 24 switched 5-15/20R, C13 or C19 outlets, 0U form factor,
tool-less mounting, and a 10-foot power cord with locking L5-20P,
L5-30P or L6-30P plug. The unit also supports support outlet-level
power-on/power-off, load shedding and reboot sequences on realtime or programmable basis
SurgeX SEQ-1U is a Smart, Slim Surge
Eliminator and Power Conditioner
SurgeX has released the 1U Sequencer (SEQ-1U), a single rack
unit power management surge protection, conditioning and sequencing solution for computer equipment.
SurgeX technology in the SEQ-1U includes Advanced Series
Mode surge elimination, a zero let-through technology that stops
all surges up to 6,000 volts / 3,000 amps (unlimited surge current)
without producing harmful side effects such as ground contamination or common-mode disturbances. The unit also features both
common mode and normal mode Impedance Tolerant EMI/RFI
filtering and COUVS (catastrophic over/under voltage shutdown),
as well as SurgeX ICE (inrush current elimination) to keep connected products protected and fed with a continuous flow of the
ideal amount of power.
Programming of the SEQ-1U is made easy through a front panel
LCD display with simple commands. The display also shows unit
status and AC line voltage. In addition to protecting AV and IT
equipment, the nine available outlets on the SEQ-1U can be used
to control other SurgeX power management products or several
SEQ-1Us can be connected to operate together for management
of large datacenters or audio video installations. All set-up configurations are stored in non-volatile memory.
Build materials and industrial design of the SEQ-1U were carefully considered. A magnetic shielding steel enclosure makes the
unit impervious to magnetic interference while a thermal circuit
breaker provides overload protection. For added convenience, the
SEQ-1U accommodates any type of control unit and provides DC
voltage or contact closure feedback to Crestron, AMX and other
similar control interfaces.
The SEQ-1U has a load rating of 20 amps at 120 volts and meets
Federal Grade A, Class 1, Mode 1 (A-1-1) guidelines for powerline
surge suppressors.
AVX’s Glass-Encapsulated Varistors Provide
Circuit Protection
AVX Corp. has expanded both
its TransGuard and Automotive
TransGuard series multilayer varistors to include glass-encapsulated,
acid-resistant parts for use in
high energy and harsh environment commercial, industrial and
automotive applications. Exhibiting non-linear, bi-directional, V-I characteristics, both zinc-oxidebased ceramic semiconductor device series provide bi-directional
over-voltage protection and EMI/RFI attenuation in a single SMT
package. The series also feature multi-strike capability, sub 1nS
response to ESD strikes and excellent solderability.
AVX’s glass-encapsulated TransGuard series varistors are available in three case sizes (1210, 1812 and 2220), four energy ratings
(spanning 2-12J) and feature a peak current rating of up to 2,000
A. Both series also have Ni/Sn-plated terminations, are RoHS compliant, are rated for use in temperatures spanning -55°C to 125°C,
and are packaged on 7 or 13 inch reels.
TransGuard series varistors are available in four working voltages (16, 22, 28, and 65 VDC), four clamping voltages (42, 44, 77 and
135 V), and can be employed in a range of professional, industrial
and commercial applications including IC protection, DC motor
protection, relays, controllers, sensors, smart grids and alarms. The
series can also provide advanced circuit protection in sensor, relay,
LIN BUS, ECU and DC motor applications.
New TPR Series Temperature Protection
Fusing Resistors
KOA Speer has achieved the
latest development in resistors, the TPR series temperature
protection fusing resistors. TPR
series resistors safely interrupt
open circuits up to AC250V
voltage and completely isolate
the circuit after quickly fusing to
the overload. These fusing resistors feature the pulse capability of
wirewound resistors and are approved by UL1412 safety standards.
With a wide operating temperature range of -40°C ~ 150°C
and 1 watt power rating, TPR series fusing resistors are well suited
for AC adaptors, small size switching power supplies, and lighting
equipment (LED). These fusing resistors are available in 2 Ω ~ 10
kΩ resistance values at 5 percent tolerance. TPR resistors are also
lightning surge compliant (IEC61000-4-5).
