EMI/EMC/RFI Astrodyne TDI's RP328 3-Phase EMI Filter Features Touch-Proof Terminals Astrodyne TDI has introduced its RP328 series with screw-type, touch-proof terminals. This single stage, 3-phase power line filter family targets low to midrange power inverters as well as other chassis-mounted applications that require high insertion loss performance in a compact mechanical form factor. "With the new touch-proof screw terminals, Astrodyne TDI helps manufacturers achieve an optimized EMI compliance solution with a connectivity scheme that is becoming both critical and standard in the industry," said Anand Awasthi, EMI Filters product manager. "The RP328 series is also available with threaded stud type terminals. Other options, such as wire leads, are available upon request." Astrodyne TDI's RP328 family of filters have a current rating up to 180 A and are rated at 480 VAC at 50/60/400 Hz. The RP328 filter series offers a wide range of line to ground (Y) capacitance values, resulting in thousands of possible configurations. All variations are UL, CSA and IEC/EN approved. Customized solutions can be offered for demanding applications. EMI Gasket Materials Touch Brochure Now Available from Stockwell Elastomerics Stockwell Elastomerics has released the EMI Gasket Materials Touch Brochure highlighting nickel-plated graphite filled elastomer products. This touch brochure includes tactile buttons of three different electrically conductive elastomers and has been created to assist engineers tasked with specifying EMI / environmental sealing gaskets. The EMI Gasket Materials Touch Brochure can be requested online at: www.stockwell.com/EMITouch. Nickel-plated graphite-filled silicone and fluorosilicone elastomers provide shielding performance at a moderate cost. The available durometer hardnesses range from 30 to 65 durometer (Shore "A"). Nickel-plated graphite materials are especially attractive to the commercial and defense projects where cost sensitivity and high performance are required. Common applications include portable communications, power supplies and displays requiring IP64, IP65, IP66 and IP67 sealing with added EMI attenuation. Stockwell Elastomerics' nickel-plated graphite filled compounds have been third party tested for shielding effectiveness per Mil-G-83528 standards. With very good attenuations properties, these compounds are often selected for defense applications and commercial applications where silver-plated aluminum compounds are too costly. Instec's EMI Filter Approved for Space Program Instec, as successfully manufactured and upscreened an EMI feed-through filter to meet the United States Department of Defense specification MIL-PRF-28861. The bolt style, resin sealed, C-circuit filter from the company's 640 Series (specifically part number 640-102CN) will now be used for a US government space program where it will help suppress electromagnetic interference, which would otherwise interfere with the performance of electronic circuitry. DKIH High Current Choke from Schurter Schurter has expanded its range of current compensated chokes with high current types for PCB mounting. The DKIH series are available for single and three phase applications with rated currents from 10 to 50 amperes. Due to its open design, the chokes are light weight and compact, ideally designed to suppress EMI noise caused by power applications on the PCB. Like all other aspects of electronic design, the power portion is often built today using discrete components on printed circuit boards. With the trending integration of components, to achieve smaller and smaller form factors, thermal problems and high currents on the PCB can arise. It also becomes increasingly challenging to meet EMC requirements with a filter package due to the resulting space constraints; therefore a filter on PCB with discrete components is a good solution. Next, the capacitors and a common mode choke, with asymmetrical effective inductance, are very effective to dampen EMI noise. The DKIH-1 series is suitable for single phase AC or DC applications from 10 up to 50 amperes. They are designed and approved according IEC 60938, UL 1283 and CSA 22.2 no. 8. The voltage rating is 300 VAC (IEC, UL), 250 VAC (CSA) and 425 VDC. Inductance ratings range from 0.30 to 0.90 mH. The new DKIH-3 series is suitable for three phase AC applications from 10 up to 50 amperes. The common mode chokes are also designed according IEC 60938 and are rated 600 VAC, making them suitable for many applications. Inductance ratings range from 0.08 to 1.10 mH. The DKIH-1 and -3 have a wide temperature range of -40°C to 1,00°C. They are available with a standard pin out or customer specific pin out. 26 Winter 2016 * www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com http://www.stockwell.com/EMITouch http://www.ElectronicsProtectionMagazine.com
