Power Ruggedly Designed 5 kW Power Converter for Harsh Environments Schaefer, Inc. has introduced the C/B 4800 series of 6U DC/DC and AC/DC converter modules ranging in output power up to 5 kW. The rugged design uses industrial grade components and provides a high density, space-saving solution for applications in industries such as railway controls and communications equipment (onboard and trackside), military applications, oil rigs applications, fuel cell applications, transportation, telecommunication systems, process control systems, and power stations. Nine DC input ranges are standard: 10-16 V, 20-32 V, 40-64 V, 50-80 V, 80-160 V, 160320 V, 320-640 V and 450-800 V. AC input options are 1-Phase 115 VAC or 230 VAC, as well as 3-Phase inputs of 3 by 200 VAC, 3 by 400 VAC, or 3 by 480 VAC. Battery charging models are also available. Units feature single outputs in 10 standard ranges from 12-400 VDC. All outputs are adjustable and tightly regulated to 0.2 percent or better (load) and 0.1 percent (line). Custom input and output ranges are readily available. All modules in the C/B 4800 series feature a standard operating temperature of -20°C to 75°C (derate above +55°C), with an option for -40°C. The C4800 models have comprehensive protection circuitry including overvoltage, overload, short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown with auto restart. Efficiencies are up to 92%. EMI performance is to EN55022 Class A standards (Class B optional). Units are packaged in a rugged 6U by 56TE by 306 mm (HxWxD) module with an optional wall mount configuration. Other options include input inrush current limiting, DC input reverse polarity protection, output parallel/redundant operation, remote on/off, Power Fail/DC-OK alarms, system reset, and programming/monitoring functions. Further mechanical "ruggedization" and extended environmental operating conditions for higher temperatures and humidity is also available. CBS ArcSafe Introduces RSA-164J Square D PowerPact, P-Frame 250-1200 A CBS ArcSafe has introduced its remote switch actuator (RSA) for the Square D PowerPact, P-Frame 250-1200 A, manually operated molded case circuit breaker. The lightweight, portable CBS ArcSafe RSA-164J allows technicians to remotely close or trip the circuit breaker from a safe distance of up to 300 feet while remaining stationed outside the arc-flash boundary. Installation and operation do not require any modifications to the existing electrical equipment thanks to CBS ArcSafe's magnetic latching system. The RSA-164J is compatible with manually operated PG, PJ, PK, and PL breakers. Typical applications of these circuit breakers include metering, monitoring, and protection for motors, transformers, and other large non-linear loads. The RSA-164J is a cost-effective solution for keeping operators safe when compared to other arc-flash mitigation alternatives. Optional features include radio remote with range up to 300 feet, 24 V DC LED light, wireless video camera system with LCD monitor, and rugged protective case assembly. All RSA units are portable, fast and easy to set up, offer mechanical and/or electrical safety protection, are adjustable to fit unique electrical equipment configurations, reduce the requirements for personal protection equipment (PPE), and help customers with NFPA 70E arc-flash safety compliance. VPT Adds Industrial Level VHR Series DC-DC Converter Line VPT, Inc. (VPT) has released the VHR series of industrial level DC-DC converters and EMI filters. Available in models ranging from 5 to 100 watts, the VHR series of DC-DC converters provides customers with VPT's renowned levels of product reliability for powering non-flight-critical programs in military, avionics, and unmanned systems as well as manufacturing equipment and controls. "Engineers aren't looking for a 'one converter fits all' solution, so VPT supplies a wide range of high reliability standard products that best match specific application requirements," said VP of sales and marketing, Monty Pyle.
