READY, SET, GET HITCHED PLANNING your timetable download “the Book” at WeddingGuideChicago.com Careful planning and scheduling will allow you to enjoy every moment of your day. Most large weddings take 12 months to plan, however, many weddings are put together in less time. We’ve put together this timetable to help organize and focus your planning details. Your wedding is not a cookie-cutter event so adjust this list according to what works best for YOUR big day. Share the planning duties with your fiancé, your families, your attendants, friends and contracted suppliers—much of the fun is doing it together! TEN TO TWELVE MONTHS  Start imagining your wedding day — what style? What level of formality? How large?  Organize your planning with a notebook, file folder and a copy of Wedding Guide!  Decide budget; discuss sharing of expenses  Choose possible dates (keep in mind holidays, weather, family vacations, etc.; see page 41 for a list of 2012-2013 holidays)  Choose ceremony location and officiant  Decide size of wedding party; choose attendants  Select a reception site  Select a wedding consultant  Begin compiling invitation list  Visit bridal salons  Have engagement photos taken and announce your engagement in the newspapers (see page 28)  Insure your engagement ring  Host engagement party  Choose style, colors and theme EIGHT TO TEN MONTHS  Select and order your wedding dress and veil  Select a caterer  Select bridesmaids’ attire and arrange for fittings  Select florist and begin choosing floral decorations  Select photographer  Discuss gown colors with Moms so they can start shopping for their dresses  Begin planning the events of your day — a good place to start is by doing research on your cultural and family traditions. Unity candle? Broomstick Jump? Dollar Dance? Toss rose petals? SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS  Select videographer  Make Honeymoon plans — the earlier you book, the better; arrange for passports, vaccinations, birth certificates and Visas if necessary  Register for gifts  Order invitations and finalize guest list  Select ceremony and reception musicians  Select wedding bands and order engraving  Start our Fit-2-B-Tied Program and reduce your stress, get in shape, take a break from wedding planning and have fun! FOUR TO SIX MONTHS  Select mens’ formalwear and give information to groomsmen  Select ceremony and reception music  Decide on new living arrangements  Create map of directions to ceremony and reception  Block hotel rooms for out-of-town guests; book your wedding night hotel room  Send a save-the-date notice  Arrange for cake tastings with various bakers; order wedding and groom’s cakes  Purchase wedding and honeymoon insurance if you like 28 WEDDING GUIDE I www.weddingguidechicago.com Bellissima Photography http://www.WeddingGuideChicago.com http://www.weddingguidechicago.com
