Sirén caught the wine bug as a teen and hit the road working vintages at some of the world’s greatest, from Niepoort in the Douro and Descendientes de J. Palacios in Bierzo to Boekenhoutskloof in Franschhoek, South Africa. The founder of THeVIINITV.CoM, a motley collection of wine tasting webisodes, his wine epiphany came in a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape—thus the tattoo, his homage to the Châteauneuf coat of arms, embellished with wings.

Ashley Hale, Salt Lake City
Hale manages Pago, a farm-to-table restaurant in Salt Lake City. Her half sleeve tattoo is a replica of Silver Oak’s Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon label, which she had inked in January 2010. Last August, she says, “I went to Silver Oak and took photos of the wine barrels and had Luis [Luis Flores, Yellow Rose Tattoo] copy them exactly.” She inherited her Silver Oak affinity from her late father and notes: “Not a day goes by that I don't think about him; this is a constant reminder of the great times we shared.”
Matthew Kaner, Los Angeles
Matt Kaner was among the 30 Under 30 young stars of the wine industry we featured in our Fall 2011 issue. Wine director for Bar Covell and L&E Oyster Bar in Los Angeles, he also runs a two-barrel Santa Ynez Valley syrah operation called AM/FM and is responsible for the sounds of Liquid Love Letter, a band which debuted last year. He modeled his vinous art aer Thierry Allemand’s Cornas Reynard. “I was introduced to Allemand by Rajat Parr at RN74 in San Francisco,” he explains. “He opened a 1999 Reynard the night I met him. That wine has never let me down.”
