SENEGAL Helaine Selin (68-69) is co-editor of the Encyclopaedia of Classical Indian Sciences: Natural Science, Technology and Medicine. Selin is also the creator of Science Across Cultures, an annotated bibliography of 1,200 books that compare scientific traditions, and the Encyclopaedia of the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine in NonWestern Cultures. MICRONESIA Sarah Koch (05-07) and Steve Bolinger (05-06) run Development In Gardening, teaching urban agriculture and establishing locally run gardens to address urban malnutrition issues. Bolinger began an AID-funded garden in Dakar as a Peace Corps volunteer. Koch and Bolinger have established gardens in Dakar and Ziguinchor to introduce more greens into diets normally heavy in carbohydrates and to serve the needs of HIV/AIDS patients. Pam Mount (67-70) received a Women of Inspiration award from the National Association of Business Owners and the Institute for Sustainable Enterprise at Farleigh Dickinson University. Mount was mayor of Lawrence, New Jersey, and serves on the city council, township planning board and other civic groups. MOROCCO Charlie Gushee (88-90) became executive vice president of Auerbach Grayson & Company, Inc., a brokerage firm based in New York that specializes in international trading for U.S. institutional investors. Gushee will supervise western Europe research sales. Neal Gottlieb (02-03) is owner of ree Twins Ice Cream in San Rafael, California. e business claims more organic-certified ice cream flavors than any other business in the world. Barbara J. Kerley Kelly (81-83) was honored by the editors of Highlights for Children for her 2006 article, “Josiah, the White House Badger,” named history feature of the year by the editors. REPUBLIC OF KOREA Bolinger shows First Lady Laura Bush, daughter Jenna his garden. THAILAND Nancie McDermott (75-78) is the author of 300 Best Stir-Fry Recipes, based on her food and travel experiences and of seven other cookbooks. She teaches ai cuisine and has contributed to Food & Wine, Bon Appetit and Fine Cooking. TOGO Business consultant omas Coyner (75-77) is author of Mastering Business in Korea, a guide to creating local business relationships. e Korea Times columnist is president of the consulting company, Soft Landing Korea. Journalist Joshua Norman (00-02) was named a 2007 Kaiser Media Fellow by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. He is a staff writer for e Sun Herald of Biloxi, Mississippi, and contributed to Hurricane Katrina coverage that earned the newspaper the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service Journalism in 2006.
