2008 Maggie Call for Entries - (Page 2) 2008 Maggie Call for Entries 18 Must-Read Rules TAKE A DEEP BREATH The tedious, time-consuming and hopefully rewarding process of selecting your categories for the 2008 Maggie Awards competition is about to begin. It can be overwhelming, and yes there are multiple rules you must adhere to. By the time you finish reading you might be more confused than when you started! In our defense think about us we process them all! Every attempt was made to define the categories/rules as simply as possible. WE URGE YOU TO READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU GO ON THE FIRST FIVE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT RULES. WHY? MISS THEM AND ALL YOUR HARD WORK IS DISQUALIFIED G Every print publication must enter the entire publication into an Initial Category from either Consumer C1 through C28, Trade T29 through T45, Other TC46 through TC50, to be eligible for all other Creative, Overall/Theme, Promotion or Special Categories TC68 through C114. ATTENTION WE’VE ALTERED THIS RULE A BIT G Art, illustration and/or photography categories must be mounted on artboard no larger than 20 X 24. Boards must be numbered in sequence. No binders or tissue overlays on boards. The last board in sequence must have an Entry Form on the back. PLUS ADDITIONAL ELECTRONIC INSTRUCTIONS In addition, include one CD with your entries into the following categories: G Categories TC68-T82: Cover only (of issue containing editorial entry) G Categories T84-C100: Opening page or spread only (whichever applies) G Categories T99-C100: Cover only Acceptable formats: Finished print resolution file in: .psd, .tif, .pct, .eps, or .jpg (NO PDFs, PLEASE) JUST A FEW MORE RULES G Every student college publication must enter the entire publication in S53/Best Overall Student Publication/College to be eligible for any other student college category. G Every Digital Edition publication must enter DM67 to qualify for other Special categories TC68-C83. G WPA reserves the right to change the category of an entry as it deems appropriate, to disallow any inappropriate entries and to combine or eliminate categories with fewer than four (4) publications. In the latter case, entry fees will be returned, less processing fee of $25 per entry. WPA reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not comply with rules, enter ineligible categories or fail to make full payment. Entry fees will not be refunded. Entries become the property of the WPA. Finalists may be asked to submit additional materials for exhibition. G G G THE NEXT FIVE RULES APPLY TO PREPARATION OF YOUR ENTRIES G A Master Application, with a copy of each Entry Form attached to it, must accompany your submissions. Companies with multiple titles may use one Master Application, with Entry Forms from all its publications attached. G Every entry must have an Entry Form securely taped or stapled to the back of each item submitted, facing out. Do not use paper clips. Entries without Entry Forms will be disqualified. G Editorial Profile descriptions (on Entry Form) must fit within Entry Form’s allocated area. Publishers may submit up to the specified (if any) number of entries per category. Only the highest score per publication will be included as a finalist. SHOW WPA THE MONEY G One check is acceptable for the total number of entries. G WPA accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express. G You may join WPA and submit entries using one check. (Complete membership application and provide breakdown.) SOMETHING NEW G Creative Editorial Categories TC68-C83 will now accept editorial from Digital Editions or Magazines. See each category for specific instructions. AND FINALLY Although we don’t duplicate the ‘Maggie’, we do offer a ‘Mini-Maggie’, half the original size, exact in wording and detail. The cost is $215.00 per Mini-Maggie and takes about 6 weeks to receive. Winners may contact the WPA office to order. Cover Design by Alan Alpanian Printing donated by Southern California Graphics Corp. Paper donated by Stora Enso: Fortune Matte #80 Publications may not enter both trade and consumer categories. If a publication reaches both audiences, the publisher must choose which category group to enter. G All cover submissions must have a 2007 date. If the issue crosses to the next year, it must display both years to qualify.
