Winston-Salem Business Magazine - October 2007 - (Page 50) Keeping The Memories Built in 1924 this school was the first effort to consolidate all of the christian schools into one school. The old school house in Clemmons was originally built in 1924 and was the first public school in Forsyth county. The school incorporated kindergarten up to 12th grade and was the first effort to consolidate all of the Christian schools into one school. The building also served as the first community center of its kind where the students put on a Christmas pageant every year. After the school closed in 1979, Ed Broyhill purchased the empty building in 1981 where it became a furniture and retail mall. In 2004 the building underwent a several million-dollar renovation, transforming the building into luxury office suites and preserving the historical aspects of the original building. The original blackboards from the school were kept and now add character to the office space. New wood flooring was installed throughout the building but the auditorium was kept the same, as was the stage within the auditorium. Currently Broyhill Office Suites has 16 tenants, which includes Allen Tate Realtors and Ageis Family Health Centers. The office space now includes hi-speed internet and offers free Wi-Fi in the building. www.BroyhillOfficeSuites.com The empty school house was purchased in 1981 and underwent a several million dollar renovation, transforming the building into luxury Class A office suites. 50 OCTOBER 2007 http://www.kulpreid.com http://www.BroyhillOfficeSuites.com http://www.kulpreid.com
