Raw 02 - September 2008 - (Page 7) THE ENglisH RAW I then took it upon myself to study in the evenings and gain the necessary qualifications to get into University, graduated in Product Design & Marketing and began the hunt after working in the Leisure industry whilst studying. I found the platform to move myself forward in sales. Realising my own capability and success I proceeded to make this my sole focus and pushed everything else to one side. I started focusing so hard on my work that I became stone cold, I would disregard people’s feelings in the work place and be looked upon as a “Simon Cowell of sales” type character hated by all work colleagues around me, releasing non performers without a shadow of emotion, consuming other peoples roles within the company and progressing further and further and working harder and harder, saying along the way I come here to make money and succeed not to make friends. Destroying my own personal relationships outside of work including my close family because my worked consumed my life. I would get into the office between 6:30am, 7:30am most days before the senior management team, and I would be the last person to leave. I would work Saturdays till late in the evening, I would even come in Sundays to prepare harder and harder. No matter how hard the targets were set before me I would smash them to succeed and crave the recognition that I wanted. Now don’t for one second get me wrong to get the type of success that I achieved you have to put in the effort, but the way in which I conducted myself was wrong, I showed no emotion to anyone and people would not even want to talk to me, I had no time for anybody not even the team that would perform for me day in day out and put in every effort to get us to the top. At the age of only 24 I was driving a new Mercedes convertible, I was earning up to 4/5 figures a month, my own property, savings, being a Sales Director with shares in a PLC company, and I still feIt I wanted to be more and succeed more. Where do you go from here- you would think that you would give up and realise that there is nothing I can do to gain that unconditional recognition, so I went one step further Auditions were taking place in London for a new TV show that would be broadcasted on ITV1 primetime slot and it set to come onto our screens early October this year, seeking the top 8 sales people in the UK. I applied and after intense auditions fighting it out with hundreds and hundreds of other contestants, I received the phone call that I would be travelling the country for the next 3 months for the chance to win a large cash sum. After the filming had been completed and I arrived home to a partner that showed her true colours whilst I was away. Had found the company I put my life into building had gone into administration after me and the Commercial Director had left. I split up with my partner after four years together, my property could not sell on the market with looming debt increasing over the fact that I had not earnt any money over 3 months and my partner had continued spending as if I was still earning. to leaveFrom there I was still looking to get involved within a business that I would be a part of and not work for, and I found some fantastic new products but the people were not business minded and there was nothing I could do to help because they were not willing to listen and let me help them. After speaking with Bradley as we still kept in close contact we spoke about his latest venture within the MI PLC group and we spoke about the magazine, I tend to get regularly subscribed magazines that I get very bored reading as they are not honest and tend to be more about acquisitions and mergers as opposed to helping the majority of businesses which are SME’s. An arrangement took place and we agreed a business venture to move Raw Entrepreneur “i would get into the office between 6:30am, 7:30am most days before the senior management team” I jumped from pillar to post searching for the kind of role that I could move into that was similar to what I was doing before- however at my age looking for the type of package I was used to proved to be extremely difficult and from working for a top Investment Property company in City of London on an OTE of 6 figure salary through to a media company working with a close ex- colleague it seemed I would never settle into somewhere where I can learn, feel recognised and move forward. Then in October 2007 I spoke to Bradley and he needed a Sales Director to come into the business and help set-up the new company Million Impossible which I agreed to. I in fact got the first ever deal for MI within my first call to an accountant. However me and Bradley had different views on the best way to move the company forward and my mind set at the time was mixed up and confused and I wanted to start my own business, so I decided to the next level and do whatever it would take to get it as a fully printed publication and subscribed edition with a readership of over 100,000 a month that would help, support and guide people in business with fantastic true stories of people and their journeys from rags to riches. As for my journey I have changed I am still driven and focused and passionate about what I do as I always will be, and I have fixed goal that I will achieve in the next 3 years. But I now think of my actions and the way I am to colleagues around me and I want to coach, help and develop my team and give them everything that I have learnt to make them successful and the chance to change their lives. I look forward to the future and as long as I have my loved ones that believe in me and love me for who I am why does it matter what I gain? millionimpossible.com 7 http://www.millionimpossible.com
