The Xplor View - October 2008 - (Page Cover2) Welcome Welcome: Welcome to this special issue of The VIEW Journal, Xplor Edition for Total Print! Expo (TPE). Once again we are proud to be supporting one of the industries events related to digital document production and contributing to furthering education in this arena with a selection of Master Classes powered by Xplor Document University (XDU). The last 30 years have seen several paradigm shifts in the digital printing industry which in turn has created a morphing of the once discreet vertical segments. Combined with the scale of rapidly developing technology and software in this market means that knowledge, skills, and experience are key elements to developing a successful business. Providing education—outside of sales pitches—and networking forums have been the cornerstone of Xplor activities. TPE is an opportunity for you to hear and meet individuals who have accumulated a wealth of knowledge in this field and share their experiences so that you might further develop your skills for personal benefit or corporate development. With the ever increasing pressures on business for cost improvements that will reflect in the bottom line and the Global efforts on the environment, we have invited a number of speakers to address these issues. There are technology solutions to help improve our document communication processes to reduce costs as well as increase responses and loyalty. Combining these ideas with lean management techniques in the production environment and you have a powerful solution for you or your customers. The key aspect of learning is the ability to understand and then apply the solution in a scale that fits your needs. Many of today’s market stories are aimed at the large corporate who have the investment and infrastructure to take advantage of such solutions but whatever they are doing is scalable into the SME market. No longer is it the privilege of the mighty as solutions exist today with equal functionality and effectiveness that can be made available to the smaller business—it just needs the right mindset to implement and apply them. Xplor is a not-for-profit association for the document communications industry with a clear charter to create forums for education and networking—something that is an essential element in a dynamic market but we seem to have less time for in today’s business environment. I would encourage you to take the time and meet some of our specialist presenters to learn from their experiences as well as joining the network which is a Global environment. One simple idea from one session could justify the return on your investment for TPE in a matter of hours.
