The printing industry has had its fair share of problems as many of its customer organisations cut back on budgets for marketing which filters down to less direct mail and other customer communications. The core financial institutions—banks, credit card, and insurance—all have one thing in common during this period and that is the need to communicate with customers to ensure they are kept aware of changes and the likely impact of those changes to the individuals. The retail organisations need to fight for market share as individuals have less disposable income available so they exercise their right of choice a little more diligently than they might have done before. With all of this taking place, the need to communicate with the customer has never been more important for both information and sales processes. The need to have accurate data available to ensure the right messages are delivered in a timely manner has increased in importance—although it has always been the key to accurate TransPromo communications. TransPromo, or whatever term you use to describe integrated customer communications, is the right vehicle to help all businesses through the challenges of the global financial crisis. TransPromo concepts focus on the need to have a ‘transactional’ document—a bill or statement—being sent to a customer on a regular basis for which you manage the white-space to insert relevant ‘promotional’ messages and images. 23 Issue 7 January 2009 e• views Journal, Xplor UK & Ireland Edition
