Set on a 130-acre island on the East coast of Mauritius and accessible only by a short sevenminute boat ride or helicopter trip from the Le Touessrok Hotel & Resort, the Le Touessrok Golf Course is without doubt “beyond comparison”.The tropical island is surrounded W by deserted white sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters of the Indian Ocean, with an interior of swaying palms and casuarina trees. Langer has indeed created a masterpiece that snakes its way around the whole tropical island and uses all of natural tidal pools, rocky outcrops and mangrove areas that come in to play on many of the spectacular holes. From the black tees, named “Langer Tees”, the course runs to 7,056 yards, making it the second-longest in Mauritius. Each hole has a minimum of four different tee options which dramatically change the carry distance over lakes and mangrove areas and, ultimately, the angle of attack on the second or third shot in to small and quite undulating greens.
