Energy Journals 2009 - (Page 11) Fossil fuels Elsevier publishes several of the top fossil fuels journals including the #1 ranked* energy and fuels journal – Progress in Energy and Combustion Science, and the journals of the renowned Combustion Institute. ‘Fuel is in its 87th publication year, and remains a leading worldwide source of information on research on topics of fuel chemistry and utilization. When launched in January 1922 a foreword in that first issue foresaw the journal as providing a ‘continuous record’ of ‘research in connection with the preparation and use of fuel’. Fuel remains true to that simply stated original purpose, but that continuous record now contains a richness of scientific knowledge that the original editors could scarcely have imagined. The journal has moved well beyond its original focus on coal to include the full range of fossil fuels, hydrogen, and now increasingly, biofuels. Where the original masthead proclaimed an interest in the ‘scientific and economic use of fuels’, now that focus has been broadened to include much more explicit concern about the environmentally acceptable conversion and use of fuels. Fuel remains a critical continuous record of key developments in a field that is now at least as important as it was at this journal’s inception.’ Professor Eric Suuberg Americas Editor, Fuel Progress in Energy and Combustion Science An International Review Journal Progress in Energy and Combustion Science contains articles by internationally recognized authors in the fields of combustion, flames, fuel science and technology and energy studies.
