ISE 2013 Exhibition Stirs Up The
Complete Audio-Visual Mixture
Imagine a mix of exhibitions combining 45% corporate audio-visual, 15% stage lighting, 15% consumer
electronics, 24% miscellaneous bytes and bobs, and 15% broadcast. Stir well and empty the
ingredients into 12 halls of the Amsterdam RAI Centre. The result is Integrated Systems Europe...

SE started in Geneva 10 years ago
with 120 exhibitors attracting a
total of 3,500 booth staff and
visitors. In 2005 it moved to
Brussels and in 2006 to Hall 8
of Amsterdam’s RAI Centre. The
show has since expanded into 12
halls and now attracts over 40,000
participants. The following report
summarises the highlights of an
exploration of each hall.
ATEN International demonstrated
its KM0932 and KM0532 multiconsole 32-port Matrix KVM
switches. These allow nine and five
consoles respectively to manage up
to 32 directly connected servers
independently and simultaneously.
Each switch can be daisy-chained,
cascaded, or both, providing
configurations that permit control
of thousands of servers at up to
300 metres. New features of the
KM0932 and KM0532 include multiview functionality and the ability to
support up to 18 consoles using the
KA7178 dual output KVM adapter
cables or via a dual root configuration.
Dongles with advanced functionality
are also available to support Matrix
KVM products. For example, the
KA7178 adapter cable provides a
redundant user path to keep the
operation up and running. Using the
KA7177 adapter cable, the KM0932
and KM0532 switches support
smart card readers for operator
identification.
Analog Way’s Nextstage 16 is a
video switcher with dedicated live
processing, based on the company’s
LiveCore platform. Equipped with
eight inputs and two outputs, it offers
28 input plugs: four HDMI, six DVI-D,
two DisplayPort, eight 3G-SDI and
eight analogue. NeXtage 16 offers
16 scalers and digital processing. It
includes four independent layers per
output, as well as an independent
native background layer included
for soft edge blending or individual
screen modes.
Barco’s Clickshare is designed to
make meeting-room presentation
more efficient. A standard ClickShare
set-up consists of four USB devices

(the ‘ClickShare buttons’), a storage
basket (the ‘ClickShare tray’) for
neatly storing the buttons when they
are not in use, and a base unit. The
base unit has a fixed connection to
the meeting room’s AV system and
handles all processing. To put their
presentation on the large meeting
room screen, users simply connect
a button to their PC or Mac, click it,
and immediately their desktop is
transferred wirelessly to the main
visualisation device. ClickShare
automatically optimises the display
on the meeting room screen. A
ClickShare base unit supports the
connection of up to 25 users and
allows four users to display their
presentation contents on the screen
simultaneously.
Canon exhibited its latest XEED
projectors, the XEED SX6000 and
the WX6000. These offer high
brightness (6,000 and 5,700 lumens
respectively) plus a range of lens
options, including a new ultra
long zoom lens.
Coda Audio introduced its
ViRAY three-way symmetrical line
array loudspeaker. Up to 24 units
can be combined to generate
high sound levels. A passive
crossover between the MF and
HF transducers allows multiple
modules to be driven with a single
C10 amplifier. Up to six enclosures
results in 2.66 ohm amplifier load.
Bi-amplification is also possible
and is internally configurable. An
optional sensor-controlled SCV-F
can be added for increased low
frequency response. Arrays can
be built straight or curved.
Cloud Electronics’ DCM-1e is
a new addition to the company's
range of digital audio mixers. An
integral Ethernet port and web
control interface allow local or
remote configuration.
Crestron demonstrated its new
DM-MD64X64 modular matrix
switcher. This is field-configurable
to handle up to 64 inputs and 64
outputs, supporting HDMI, HDBaseT,
DM 8G fibre, DM 8G singlemode fibre and DM 8G+ signals.

The controller automatically
detects the active microphones and
makes fast crossfades. It maintains
consistent system gain for up to
16 open microphones, reducing
the risk of cueing mistakes and
late fade-ups.
Datavideo exhibited its new
MS-2800 mobile studio. Designed
for live production and event
recording, this is based around the
Datavideo SE-2800 broadcastquality switcher. It has eight digital
and analogue inputs, upgradeable
to 12 channels. Effects include dual
picture in picture, downstream keyer
and logo insertion. A built-in 17inch multiviewer display provides
a complete overview of all eight
input channels as well as preview

(live). Recording is via the HDR-55
rackmountable hard drive.
Genelec demonstrated its
new G and F series speakers
and subwoofers as well as the
complete 4000-series. The G and
F models feature new Genelec
power management technology to
ensure they meet the coming Energy
Related Products directive.
Harman
Professional
demonstrated its HiQnet Audio
Architect software which allows
configuration of over 100 HiQnet
products from AKG, BSS, Crown,
dbx, JBL and Lexicon. The
companion HiQnet Motion Control
is an Apple iOS app which enables
customised control interfaces
designed in Audio Architect to be
imported on iPad, iPhone
and iPod Touch

what it claims is
the world’s first 84inch UHD public display
screen plus the FPR 3D
interactive whiteboard.
