Broadcast Quality HD Streaming Encoder

has added recording and RTSP/
RTMP support for the ENC-300
HD/SD real-time broadcast quality
encoder family.
“We have added RTSP & RTMP
to our encoder series to enable
cloud-based live video transcoding
services and streaming platforms
to take advantage of the ENC-300
series robust H.264 live streaming
capabilities. The ENC-300
hardware encoders safely deliver
high quality master HD streams
into the cloud or to the CDN, for
further on transcoding, transrating
and hosting”, explains Karl-Heinz
Wenisch CTO of Teracue.
“As of today we have released a
recording option for the ENC-300. It
is designed

to turn the encoder now into a
stream recorder to distribute the
live event afterwards. It is easy and
simple; just plug your USB stick to
the encoder and start the recording
via web browser.
The supported ﬁle formats are
transport stream or MP4. The
recorded ﬁles can be downloaded
directly from the encoder or you
simply take the USB stick to your
computer to edit the ﬁles. In addition
automatic recording of seamless
patch ﬁles is possible. Furthermore
to the conﬁguration via web browser
all functions are available via Telnet,
RS232 and SNMP. You can also
start and stop the recording via
GPI interface or with a foot switch”,
says Wenisch.
Teracue’s H.264 Encoders and
Decoders support the broadcast
industry standard Pro-MPEG FEC

which allows FEC ‘Forward Error
Correction’ transmission to enable
failure-free video IP contribution
and internet streaming, even if
the network and IP connectivity is
not perfect.
Another option is the support for the
NATO Standard STANAG 4609 to
insert and embed KLV metadata into
the video stream. KLV encapsulation
allows e.g. labelling and timestamping of the video stream
with mission critical-, medical-,
environmental-, geo-/orbital- or
GPS-data. Additionally the MISB
Standards 0603.1, 0604.2, 0605.3
and SMPTE 12M-2 are supported.
The ENC-300 encoder series
offers real-time HD/SD-SDI H.264
encoding for continuous 24/7
operation - due to its rock-solid
layout without any moving parts.

The ENC-300 encoder model is
available with DVI/HDMI or HDSDI/VGA/Analogue inputs, and can
also support multiple RTSP output
streams for delivering live video
feeds at the same time to multiple
receiving locations.

imond Media Solutions has
announced the release of
Content Aggregator, a new
product that uses components of
Vimond’s online TV platform, the
Vimond Platform, to enable multiple
publishers on the same service. With
the solution, operators and service
providers can grant access to the
Vimond Platform so that approved
partners and content holders can
upload, curate, distribute, and
monetise their own content in a
self-service environment. In turn,
operators and service providers
can offer their end-u sers more

cross-device experiences and a
broader array of content with less
effort while maintaining control over
the service, customer relationships,
and revenue streams.

The Content Aggregator creates
a hierarchy of publishers who can
contribute content to a service.
Approved content providers log into
the Vimond Control Center to upload
and manage their content, and they
also use it to enrich their content
and build an end-user experience
on a third-party service. They can
choose to automate the workﬂow
completely or use all the built-in
features of the Vimond Control
Center, the video management tool
that serves as the user interface
for Vimond’s online video platform.
Content partners also act as curators
of their own content and can choose
to promote certain videos or shows.
Additionally, they can decide how to
monetise their content within the
rules set by the operator, and they
can create bundles of content to sell
at a discounted price.

At the same time, Content
Aggregator includes several
features that ensure operators
retain full control over the service.
Only operator-approved content
providers can upload content,
and operators have the option
of approving individual content
channels on a case-by-case basis
before they go live. Operators also
set the rules by which content
is monetised–such as for ads,
subscriptions, and pricing–thereby
maintaining control over the revenue
streams, as well. When an end user
purchases a channel, the revenue
goes to the operator, which shares
the revenue with the content provider
according to predetermined terms.
The workﬂow process is simple
and streamlined. A cable company
signs a deal with a major content
provider. The cable company then
creates a restricted account that the
content provider can use to securely
access the cable company’s service
backend through the Web, upload
video and metadata, and decide on
price points, promotions, and more.
The cable company can approve all
changes before they are published.
