RFD-TV Utilises
Orad TD Control
USA: RFD-TV, an American digital
cable and satellite TV channel,
recently went on-air with its new
studio and broadcast facility. The
facility utilises Orad's TD Control
live production system for the
control and management of all
its video outputs, including video
walls and monitors in the studio.
Orad's Maestro enterprise graphics
suite is used to drive the graphics,
which were developed by Orad's
partner, Motion Path.
The custom data integration was
accomplished using Flowgic, Orad's
node-based integration platform.

AVIWEST Broadens
RTP's Live News
BOL / FRA: Radio Television
Popular (RTP), a national TV
network in Bolivia, has deployed
AVIWEST's DMNG PRO140 3G/4G
video uplink system to improve
the delivery of live broadcast
transmissions. Utilising AVIWEST's
DMNG solution, provided by
systems integrator Rios y Cia,
RTP recently broadcast live video
coverage of the Bolivian elections
from remote areas via 3G/4G
networks.
The
DMNG
PRO140
units
deliver live news to centralised
reception headquarters in La Paz,
Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz.

Halo Focus
USA: Redrock Micro has announced
Halo, a system for video production
that solves the challenge of
accurate focus control. It solves
this by dynamically mapping and
tracking subjects, and providing an
easy to use interface for manually
selecting or automatically tracking
subjects for focus.
Introduced at NAB 2015, Halo was
quickly recognised for its potential
to shift the industry, creating
intense buzz and earning three
Best of Show awards.

anasonic used the Las Vegas NAB
Show to introduce a 4K studio
camera.
The AK-UC3000 4K system, set for
release in Q4, 2015, is equipped with a
sensor that outputs a UHD signal up to
3840x2160/60p.
A B4 mount on the UC3000
accommodates a gamut of existing 2/3
type lenses, allowing for a wider and
more economical choice.
A number of innovative functions
also enhance the camera's ease-of-use
and flexibility. These include shockless
gain (-6~36dB), a user gamma setting,
Black Gamma Correction tracking
pedestal, and multi-step digital noise
reduction.
In addition, Panasonic unveiled
the AG-DVX200, a large-sensor 4/3
type handheld 4K camcorder that

offers
many
top-end
features including UHD (up to
3840x2160/60p) recording, 12 stops
of latitude, a 13x optical zoom and a
V-Log L gamma curve.
Delivering a shallow depth of
field and a wide field of view, the
DVX200 has an integrated lens design
and is aimed at independent film,
documentary production and event
videography.
Panasonic also announced the

4K camera system

AK-UB300, a multi-purpose 4K box
camera, ideal for remote studio,
weather, image magnification and
sports broadcasting. The UB300 is
equipped with a one-type MOS sensor
that can output simultaneously in both
UHD (up to 3840x2160/ 59.94p/60p)
and HD (up to 1080/60p).

onvergent Design's promotion,
delivering two Odyssey 256GB
SSDs with every Odyssey7Q+ monitor/
recorder, will end on May 31, 2015.
Convergent Design's latest firmware
update will add 512GB / 1000GB
recording capability across
the Odyssey7
range

"Our goal was to remove the price
barrier from clients deciding what
product was best suited to their
needs," said Mike Schell, President of
Convergent Design. "Now that
we have announced that the
Odyssey monitor/recorders will
soon support the use of some
inexpensive Samsung SSDs,
people can buy an Odyssey7Q+
with the comfort of knowing
that they won't have to worry
about being able to afford the
media they need to use it."
In an upcoming free firmware
update, the Odyssey7, Odyssey7Q
and flagship Odyssey7Q+ monitor/
recorders will be able to record to

the 500GB and 1000GB models of the
Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SSDs.
The two 256GB SSDs are currently
included at no additional charge with
the Odyssey7Q+. Recording in Apple
ProRes 422 (HQ) at 24fps, these SSDs
can hold 78 minutes of 4K video, or
335 minutes of 1080p video.
The Odyssey7Q+ features an OLED
monitor with true blacks, accurate
colours, extended colour gamut and a
176 degree viewing angle.
It also features an extensive array
of image analysis tools, including
RGB waveform, RGB Histogram, False
Colour, Zebras, Pixel Zoom with finger
drag, three-mode Focus Assist and
monitoring LUTs.
