Espial Acquires
Bluestreak Technologies
CAN: Espial has announced the
acquisition of Bluestreak Technologies, a software and services
provider of video solutions for connected devices including set-top
boxes, smart TVs, smartphones,
and tablets. With highly talented
teams based in Montreal and Paris,
Bluestreak strengthens Espial's
expertise in advanced video technologies, software development
and integration. The transaction
includes the purchase of Bluestreak Technologies SAS, based in
Paris and the operating assets in
Montreal. Terms and conditions of
the acquisition are not disclosed.

LiveU Captures
Spanish Election
USA: Live Audiovisual (LIVE!) has
provided coverage of the recent
local and regional elections
in Spain with a large-scale
deployment of LiveU technology.
The deal has been overseen by
regional LiveU partner Park 7.
Major national and regional
media turned to Live Audiovisual
and LiveU, including: Mediaset;
Atresmedia; Forta; Xarxa; 13 TV;
RTVCyLeon; TV Extremadura; and
El País. Live Audiovisual facilitated
the coverage of both last-minute
campaigning as well as the
evolving overall picture throughout
election day.

Ooyala Snaps Up Nativ
GBR: Ooyala, a leading video, analytics and advertising technology
provider and independent subsidiary of telecommunications company Telstra, has acquired Nativ,
a provider of cloud-based media
logistics and workflow software
and services.
Nativ's modular suite of media production, post-production, delivery
and syndication workflow software, called MioEverywhere, redefines end-to-end media management for data-driven, multiscreen
world. It removes the cost and
complexity of creating, managing
and delivering content in the cloud.

ITV Acquires Twofour Group

acquired by ITV plc for an
initial cash consideration of
£55 million.
Livingstone's Media &
Technology team advised
the shareholders of Twofour
Group, including mid-market
private
equity
investor
LDC and the company's
management team, on the
transaction.
Twofour Group is a family

to deliver world class TV production.
Working for broadcasters around
the world, the Twofour Group spans
drama, comedy, factual, childrens'
and entertainment and produced over
1,200 hours of programming in 2014.

The group's production labels, based

echnicolor has announced the
immediate availability of its HDR
single-layer solution for testing by key
ecosystem partners.
The solution, which is compatible
with
MPEG
HEVC
standards,
creates a video which benefits from
improved compression efficiency
over unprocessed HDR files. It is also
backwards compatible with legacy
Standard Dynamic Range (SDR)
displays.
"Today the option to view HDR
content is an either-or scenario
depending on screen display, which
creates duplicity and inefficiencies in
delivering content to the consumer,"

A first encoding implementation
has been achieved with the new ViBE
4K UHD HEVC encoder from Thomson
Video Networks.
Technicolor's latest 4Kp60 UHD
High Frame Rate HDR set-top box,
as demonstrated during INTX 2015,
already incorporates the solution.
