young, launched its BP40 largediaphragm broadcast microphone at
Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt earlier
this year.
A dynamic vocal microphone with
rich, natural condenser-like sound for
a variety of applications - including
radio, overdubs, post-production
and more - the BP40's hypercardioid
polar pattern provides isolation of the
desired sound source, and maximum
off-axis rejection when working in
close
production
environments.
Its optimised capsule placement
helps maintain a commanding vocal
presence even at a distance, while
the multistage windscreen provides
superior internal pop filtering. It also
includes a switchable 100 Hz highpass filter to provide even more pop
protection.

The BP40 comes standard with the
AT8483 mounting clamp, while for
additional protection from noise, shock
and vibration the optional AT8484
shock mount is available separately.

Rode
continues to address all sectors
of the industry. Among its latest
introductions is the Rode NTR ribbon
microphone.
"It's always been a dream of Rode's
to create the world's very best ribbon
microphone, but the time was never
quite right," says Damien Wilson,
Rode's Global Sales and Marketing
Director.

capabilities

expanded
dramatically over the past few years
and now we're proud to say we have
a facility unlike any other in the world.
These expanded capabilities have
allowed us to realise this dream, and
bring the NTR to life."
The NTR's design places the ribbon
distinctly separate to the microphone
frame and body, allowing the greatest
possible acoustic transparency around
the ribbon element and minimising
resonance. The ribbon element itself
is designed completely from scratch,
using extremely fine aluminium that
is only 1.8 microns thick - one of the
thinnest ribbons in existence. An
innovative,
in-house,
proprietary
technique was developed to laser cut
the ribbon, giving a level of precision
and accuracy never before seen in a
ribbon microphone.
Surrounding the ribbon element is
a chemically etched all-metal layer of
mesh - the same used on
the SMR pop shield. This
is extremely rigid while
exhibiting super low density,
resulting in greater acoustic
transparency.
Married
to
Rode's
ribbon element is a
high
output,
ultra-low
noise,
low
impedance
transformer.
Combined
with world-class active
electronics, this allows
the NTR to be used with
a wide range of preamps
without the additional gain
requirements of many other
ribbon offerings.

Also new from Rode is the NTG3, a
super cardioid shotgun microphone
with a rich warm quality and a full
frequency response, making it well
suited for professional use on film,
television, ENG and wherever high
resolution broadcast audio is required.
The Rode NTG3's RF bias technology
makes it almost completely resistant
to moisture and ideal for demanding
environments where condensation is
an issue.
Founded in 1992 by Morten Stove
and Ole Brosted Sorensen, two former
employees from the measurement
company Brüel & Kjaer (B&K), DPA
Microphones has always made it a
point to create microphones of the
highest possible quality. Today, the
DPA Microphones line includes vocal,
instrument and studio microphones,
as well as broadcast and surroundsound microphones that can be found
in venues throughout the world and in
use by a plethora of famous artists.
DPA will use the IBC 2015 platform
next month to exhibit the latest
additions to its range of broadcast
microphones.
On show will be the new d:facto
Interview Microphone, which was
launched in April at NAB 2015. A
high-end handheld reporter's mic, it
features an omnidirectional 2006V
capsule, based on DPA's original 2006,

but with sensitivity adjusted down 12
dB to accommodate typical interview
mic and wireless handle sensitivities.
This omnidirectional pattern is
preferred for handheld interview use.
Native reductions in wind and handling
noise are further lowered in the mic by
a rubber suspension mount built into
the d:facto head.
DPA will also be showing the recently
launched d:fine In-Ear Broadcast
Headset Microphone. Targeted at
broadcast hosts and guests who use
in-ear monitors to communicate with
their producers backstage or to hear
foldback from people interviewed
outside the studio, the d:fine In-Ear
Microphone is built on the same
capsules and mechanical design that
have made DPA's d:fine range so
popular around the world.
