Digigram Celebrates 30 Years
IQOYA *SERV/LINK Audio-Over-IP Codec
for SSL and STL Applications

C

elebrating 30 years at IBC 2015,
Digigram will highlight products
that address the performance and
cost requirements of all IP audio and
IP video contribution and distribution
applications.
In showcasing solutions that simplify
the capture and delivery of highquality audio over IP networks, the
company will feature the addition of
RAVENNA/AES67 compliance across
the IQOYA IP audio product line, as
well as functional improvements and
interface enhancements brought to the
AQORD and AQILIM IP video product
ranges with the release of a new V7
software update for each.
At IBC2015, Digigram will showcase
the benefits that RAVENNA/AES67
connectivity brings to the company's
IQOYA range of AoIP codecs, which

allow users to get
audio programmes
directly
from
an
in-studio
RAVENNA
or
AES67
network, and
subsequently encode and stream
them over IP to transmitter sites via
a WAN in compliance with EBU ACIP.
Users likewise can decode EBU ACIP
streams from a WAN to their in-studio
RAVENNA network.
Now shipping with RAVENNA/
AES67 connectivity, Digigram's IQOYA
*SERV/LINK incorporates multiple
distribution codec instances and
the company's advanced FluidIP
audio streaming engine on a single
processing hardware platform, to
simplify the transport of multiple
audio programmes (mono, stereo,
and multichannel) over IP networks
in a high-density format. The IQOYA
*SERV/LINK codec allows radio and
TV broadcasters to configure multiplestereo or multichannel solutions for
links between studios, and between
the studio and transmitters, DVB/

cable operators, or content delivery
networks.
Likewise
RAVENNA/AES67compliant, the IQOYA *LINK and
IQOYA
*LINK/LE
audio-over-IP
codecs are full-duplex encoding
and decoding solutions that provide
uncompromising performance for
IP-based studio-to-studio and studioto-transmitter links, as well as audio
programme delivery to DVB/cable
operators.
At IBC2015 Digigram will feature
its IQOYA *CALL and IQOYA *CALL/
LE audio-over-IP (AoIP) programme
contribution codecs, which now
provide AES67 connectivity and also
integrate with the Axia IP-audio native
Livewire protocol.
Digigram will highlight the V7
software release for the
company's
AQILIM
range of encoding and
transcoding solutions
for multiscreen/OTT
video
delivery.
With this update,
users
of
the
AQILIM *SERV/FIT, *FIT, and *FIT/

LE solutions gain the flexibility to
perform independent audio and video
encoding, a capability that allows
encoded audio to be muxed using one
or more separate containers.
The V7 software release for
Digigram's AQORD encoding/decoding
solutions for broadcast contribution
applications includes a new dual
streaming feature that helps users to
secure video transport between two
locations, such as the event site and
the studio.
Digigram's new AQORD HEVC
encoder helps production operations
to reduce the cost of high-volume data
transport, by encoding either one UHD
signal or multiple HD raw video signals
in real-time, using the new HEVC video
compression standard.

Calrec Expands Hydra2 Options
A

t IBC 2015, Calrec will debut two
compact aluminium expansion
units, its new Fieldbox I/O range and
H2Hub switch point, that can be used
to expand and distribute a Hydra2
network.
The new Fieldbox range of smallformat I/O units brings the advantages
of Calrec's Hydra2 stagebox to rugged
environments and areas in which rack
space is at a premium. These 1U halfrack units are ideally suited for work
in outside broadcast environments in
which I/O must be spread over a large
area, such as a golf course.

needed using just two high-capacity
network cables for full redundancy.
This setup allows for significant
savings on rigging time and cabling
costs, and it also reduces cable storage
and transport.
To add even further distribution
flexibility to a Hydra2 network, Calrec
has also developed the H2Hub switch
point. Using the same compact form
factor as the Fieldbox, the H2Hub
provides a hub or switch point for a
Hydra2 network.
A single connection from the router
can then be switched via the H2Hub
to multiple I/O units, or to multiple
H2Hubs if further I/O distribution is
required. The H2Hub's connection
and distribution options make
this solution
ideal for
forming
ad
hoc
networks,
especially
w h e n
combined
with
Fieldboxes and other

Calrec I/O infrastructure.

first
revealed these
products
at
the 2015 NAB
Show, and they were met with great
enthusiasm from all who saw them,"

this side of the Atlantic. Alongside the
Fieldbox, H2Hub, and Hydra2 Interface
card, we will launch some exciting new
additions to our product range. We're
not talking about them yet, but there
will be more details in the run-up to
the show."
At IBC 2015, Calrec will showcase
the first technology release developed
in conjunction with DiGiCo since
the formation of the Audiotonix pro
audio group in August 2014. DiGiCo
consoles can now integrate onto the
Hydra2 network via a Hydra2-enabled

DiGiCo Multichannel Interface (DMI)
card. DiGiCo's range of cards easily
converts audio from one transport
protocol to another and can be placed
in DiGiCo's "anything in, anything out"
Orange Box, or directly into the back of
the company's newest digital mixing
console, the S21.
Calrec is also talking to other
manufacturers about incorporating
this hardware into their broadcast
equipment. In making this move,
manufacturers can join the Hydra2
family exclusively and benefit from
the management tools built into the
world's most powerful proprietary
audio networking system.
