What's New In Broadcast Routing
Grass Valley reports shipping more
than 1,000 NVISION 8500 Enterprise
Routers to broadcasters, studios,
mobile production and playout
facilities globally. The series originated
as the NV8576 which supported
SDI over coax and fibre as well as
asynchronous AES digital audio. Since
then, the series has expanded to
include four additional frames: the
NV8144, the NV8280, the NV8576-Plus
and the NV8140.

IHSE
modular
matrix

IHSE's Draco tera Enterprise is a
modular matrix for bidirectional signal
distribution of high definition video,
audio, and data over Cat X cable or
multi-mode and single-mode fibre.
High definition video signals including
DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, HD-SDI
and 3G-SDI are supported as well as
analogue and digital audio formats
and USB 2.0/3.0 data signals.
Imagine Communications now
offers a compact version of its
Platinum IP3 28 RU router, delivering
the same integrated routing and
processing capabilities of the larger

model in a 15 RU form factor. The 15
RU version will debut at IBC.
Kramer Electronics claims its
VP−796 and VP−798 to be the world's
fastest single-channel 4K presentation
scaler/switchers. Both can switch in
typically a quarter of a second and
produce 4K images from HD content.
Lawo's U RU V-link4 is designed
to perform video-over-IP coding and
related monitoring processing. It
provides four 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs
and four 3G/HD/SD-SDI outputs
for interfacing to external
video equipment. Signals can
be converted into IP streams
and vice versa. The streams
can be transported via
standard Layer 3 IP LANs
or WANs. The IP-based
approach allows easy signal
routing via the configuration
software or via external
master control systems such as VSM.
No rewiring is needed as long as all
devices are connected to the network.
The device allows easy transmission
of signals to multiple outputs within
the network. Format and quality of
the IP video streams can be configured
individually to provide an optimal
combination of picture quality, latency
and bandwidth.
NTP Technology will introduce new
MADI and AES3 plug-in cards for the
Penta 720 audio router and modular
interface converter at IBC. The Penta
720 presented at the show will have
additional
new
features
including expanded routing
capability
(increased
from 1,024 x 1,024 to
1,500 x 1,500) plus
signal detection, signal
level
monitoring,
peak
programme
meters, and signal
level control on all
inputs and outputs.
The two new plug-in
cards for the Penta
720 being introduced
at IBC comprise an
eight-channel
line
level AES3 (AES/
EBU)
input/output
interface
(with
optional
sampling
rate conversion) plus
a dual MADI input/output.

NTP Technology Blue | Net

analogue input/output configuration
will be demonstrated. NTP Technology
has also expanded the range of control
options available for the Penta 720
which can now be operated via Pro-Bel
SW-P and Avid (R) EUCON protocols.
The company will also demonstrate
Blue | Net as the core of a standalone router control system for Dante
compliant audio over IP with a router
structure, using an IP network as
audio backbone, as well as a router
configuration using Penta 720 as a
1Kx1K MADI Main router.
Blue | Net incorporates the NTP QNX
based router control system RCCoreV5.
This provides a database-driven
control system with full integration of
the Dante routing API, running either
on the NTP 635 redundant controllers,
or as a virtual application on a
standard windows server. Blue | Net
has the ability to cover systems with
any configuration of Dante enabled
audio devices either by NTP or other
vendors. Operation of the Blue | Net
routing system is via various software
GUI client applications for connection
management, scheduling and signal
monitoring.
Opticomm-Emcore has expanded
its Genesis XD multimedia matrix
switching platform with the addition of
16×16 and 8×8 matrix switch options.
Genesis XD is a modular non-blocking
full crosspoint matrix switch that can
switch and convert any signal input
to any signal output with scaling to
one or multiple HD displays. GXD's
40Gb/s backplane accommodates
uncompressed 4K resolutions now,
and will handle 8K resolutions in the
near future. Features include the
ability to break away and switch audio
separately, embed and de-embed
audio into digital video signals, and
preview any connected video source

on the front touch-screen panel,
eliminating the need for a local and
dedicated monitor.
PESA's Cheetah Flex video router
now supports hybrid distribution
environments by incorporating the
new PESA Blade System.
Housed in a 2 RU Ross openGear
chassis and managed by PESA's
Cattrax control software, the PESA
Blade System holds up to 10 cards,
and is installed adjacent to traditional
baseband routing hardware within a
Cheetah frame.
Riedel Communications' MicroN
is a media distribution network
device for use with the company's
MediorNet line of media transport and
management products. The MicroN
offers full support for 10G high-speed
video, 3G-SDI video, MADI audio, and
Gigabit Ethernet.
