Globecast Integrates Cloudbased Tools For Media Solutions

proposition. This integration combines
the best features of the cloud with
Globecast's expertise in managed
media solutions to create a solution
that meets customers' specific business

At the heart of Globecast's
cloud-based approach is its Media
Factory platform, which enables the
handling and preparation of content
for any kind of distribution. Media
Factory breaks down the traditional
siloes related to separate content
preparation workflows for different
distribution approaches or different
regions, and allows customers to
provide content to Globecast once,
and then deliver to linear playout,

OTT and Video on demand platforms.
Furthermore, Media Factory allows
Globecast's three media centres in
London, Singapore and Los Angeles to
seamlessly work as a single operation.
Globecast's Channel Localisation
offering draws on the flexibility, cost
efficiency and accessibility of cloud
infrastructure to enable broadcasters
to test out services in new markets/
territories, without the need for a long
term commitment if the market does
not respond. Broadcasters have peace
of mind knowing that all their content
complies with local regulations,
broadcasting in a local language or
with local subtitles, as required. By
using a small amount of physical
infrastructure, Globecast is also able

out its cloud-based customer portal

Visual Research Inc Relies
On Matrox X.mio3
LP SDI Cards

atrox Video has announced
that Korean video equipment
manufacturer Visual Research Inc.
(VRi) has chosen Matrox X.mio3 LP SDI
cards to power its KarismaCG 4K 3D
character generators. VRi and Matrox
products were showcased at this year's
IBC show.
KarismaCG 4K provides sophisticated
on-air 3D graphics, animation and
effects for 4K environments with
support for frame rates up to 60 fps.
Advanced features include real-time
OpenGL rendering technology, realtime shading, multi-animation, live
mapping on 3D objects and import of
popular image file formats including
3D modelling data from Autodesk 3ds
Max and Maya.
Matrox X.mio3 LP is a low-profile,
half-length PCIe card that offers up

to eight reconfigurable I/Os, from
SD to 4K. Multi-channel hardware
processing
accelerates
computeintensive operations including motionadaptive de-interlacing, up/down/
cross scaling and mixing/compositing
for all resolutions. The card is the
ideal hardware platform for OEMs who
need to create advanced yet compact
channel-in-a-box
systems,
video
servers, broadcast graphics systems,
encoders, transcoders, multiviewers,
switchers and other digital media
equipment.
Comprehensive development tools
in the Matrox DSX SDKs for Windows
or Linux include versatile file reading/
writing,
memory
management,
streaming synchronisation, and a
large selection of software codecs
and effects. A prototyping tool

provides a graphical
representation
of
all
hardware
components
so
developers can simulate
and test their use cases
within minutes, before
writing a single line
of code. From a single development
effort,
broadcast
equipment
manufacturers can create a variety
of products at a full range of price/
performance levels.
