France Télévisions Selects
OpenHeadend

penHeadend, a leader in ingest,
processing and stream delivery
software solutions, has announced
that France Télévisions is relying on its
technical platform to offer viewers the
possibility to catch-up on programmes
from France 2, France 3, France 4,
France 5, France Ô, and from the 9
channels of its overseas Première
network.
In order to meet France Télévisions
needs in terms of flexibility, video
quality
and
automation,
the
OpenHeadend
solution
records
24/7 the full programmes of 14 live
channels.
Each specific programme is then
automatically extracted for publishing.
The system also creates thumbnail
previews, bundles them in a single
Jpeg file, before synchronising and
associating them to the relevant
video. Media and associated metadata
are finally made available on a NAS,
from which they are sent to France

Télévisions multiplatform transcoding
and delivery systems.

controlled by our video information
system, which sends a request
to extract programmes based on
timecodes. It is a flexible and robust

PlayBox Technology
Neo Upgrades

layBox Technology will be
exhibiting the latest upgrades to
its established PlayBox product range
at BVE: AirBox Neo, TitleBox Neo,
CaptureBox Neo and SafeBox Neo.
The
upgrades
include
UHD
compatibility, a high-efficiency user
interface plus a wide range of new
feature enhancements. Neo is an
evolutionary upgrade which will
advance the PlayBox platform into the
UHD era and beyond.
Customers with valid Annual
Software Maintenance & Technical
Support can upgrade their existing
PlayBox products to the latest Neo
versions as a simple download. On
request, PlayBox Technology will be
able to analyse their system and advise
relevant upgrade options.
AirBox Neo adds UHD capabilities to
the core PlayBox Technology content
playout system which now supports
UHD, HD and SD in a single server.

New features include a streaming
input supporting HTTP, HTTP Secure,
UDP, RTMP, MMS, MMSH and YouTube.
RTMP Streaming Output improvements
have also been added, allowing easy
web streaming. AirBox Neo comes with
a virtual output which now supports
multiple instances.
TitleBox Neo provides a wide
range of interactive on-air graphics
and titling capabilities which can
be manipulated live. It includes
substantial
improvements
for
dealing with UHD projects as well as
supporting HD and SD operation.
CaptureBox Neo allows HD or SD
content to be captured from up to four
video sources simultaneously. These
can be monitored on a single screen
and controlled via a streamlined user
interface with enhanced multichannel
control and operability.
SafeBox Neo replicates remote
content to local playout server

folders for safe
transmission.
It
implements a new
graphic interface,
plus new significantly faster processing
for moving primary or copied content
to the playout and central storage
servers. A new workflow routine
protects content being overwritten.
Deletion
can
be
performed
automatically or by manual approval
of deletion lists.
Also debuting is the CloudAir
Universal Playout and Streaming
Platform to UK broadcasters. CloudAir
offers a gateway through which new
television channels can be established
without
the
usual
preliminary
investment in playout infrastructure.
Channel proprietors are then free to
invest their startup capital in creating
or acquiring content from which
in turn they can build up a healthy
