WORKING TOGETHER
Mba Ndong Marius, an eco guard from the Gabon national parks service,
displays elephant tusks and weapons seized from poachers. Government
agencies are among the many partners we work with in our efforts to stamp
out poaching and illegal wildlife trade.
On the ground, good relationships with local communities are vital. In
Central Africa, poaching can be a tempting option for people with few
economic opportunities. Our projects help people to develop alternative
livelihoods and benefit from living around wildlife.
At the other end of the spectrum, we use our access to governments
and international conventions to push for stronger laws and concerted
international action against illegal wildlife trade.
