Examples of Sustainable Innovations been enabled across all PCs (with approved exceptions) in esB. As a result, the energy consumed by PCs is reduced by up to 30%. this outcome is visible in the metered energy use figures for all esB premises where a significant number of PCs are being used. • Electric Ireland savings on recycled waste disposal and good Pr for esB. the remaining dual branded esB electric ireland stationary was removed from the business. 44 reams of A4 paper had headers/footers guillotined so that the paper can be donated by staff to their local playschool/montessori for reuse. 8 2012 is a very important year for the Sustainability Programme in ESB. in 2008, as a key element of our Strategic Framework we set ourselves some challenging targets and committed to reducing our internal carbon footprint by 30% by the end of this year. Since then, teams and individuals have been recording their initiatives and innovations as business unit Sustainable innovations. These act as a live record of the scope and variety of work taking place across ESB in support of the sustainability and business efficiency agenda. 1. 1. Energy International • Generation Operations in moneypoint 130,000 tonnes of water identified for recycling. Project required the water to be pumped to an existing settlement pond filtered and then pumped to an industrial water storage tank for use as process water in the station. initiative completed, payback €60,000. • ESBI requested the landlord of st Court to replace the lighting in the car park areas. the existing lights were old inefficient tubes and were on 24/7. the landlord eventually carried out the work. All of the lights are now replaced saving significant energy bill costs and reduced Co2. 3. ESB Networks • Local champions became aware that two small material and tool stores/lock ups were not being used by any function in Wilton yard.
