It’s the nature of the parenting rather than the sex of the parents which matters most. Children can also draw male role models from all walks of life; this could be a neighbour, teacher or brother. It is not right for an individual or group to dictate what type of family is ‘normal’. Families are diverse and current legislation has thankfully been altered in order to address this. The rights enshrined in the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill are expected to come into force over the next eighteen months.
