productroundup ARM, Tegra 3 on Mini-ITX motherboard Kontron’s KTT30/mITX embedded ARM-based motherboard in the Mini-ITX form factor (170mm x 170 mm) hosts an NVIDIA Tegra 3 super processor and offers media performance with low power consumption. With the GeForce GPU, the ARM Cortex-A9 900MHz Quad-Core processor board provides 3D graphic performance with a total power load of under 7W. Use it in graphics- and video-oriented embedded applications like thin clients, Panel PCs and Mini-Box PCs; it will have long-term availability of at least seven years. Board profile is 15.2 mm. Each of the four Cortex-A9 CPU run at up  to 900 MHz. An additional core with up to 500 MHz clock speed reduces power consumption to less than 1W in phases, when just media playback or background services are running. The integrated 12-core NVIDIA GeForce GPU supports screen resolutions of up to 2048 x 1536 pixels. The board has HDMI 1.4a and 24 bit LVDS video interfaces, and real time video compression: it supports Android and Linux. Kontron , http://emea.kontron.com/products/boards+and+mezzanines/ embedded+motherboards/ miniitx+motherboards/ktt30mitx Multicore eval kits  Texas Instruments has announced two evaluation modules (EVMs) for its KeyStone-based TMS320C665x multicore DSPs. The TMDSEVM6657L and TMDSEVM6657LE EVMs allow developers to start work with the TMS320C6654, TMS320C6655 and TMS320C6657 processors. Combining fixed- and floating-point capabilities, TI configured its C665x multicore processors for real-time, high performance at low power coupled with smaller form factors. TMDSEVM6657L costs $349, and the TMDSEVM6657LE, $549. Both EVMs include a free Multicore Software Development Kit (MCSDK), TI’s Code Composer Studio integrated development environment and suite of application/demo codes. TMDSEVM6657L includes an embedded XDS100 emulator, while the TMDSEVM6657LE includes a faster emulator, the XDS560V2, for quicker program loading. Chips, starting at under $30, include the C6657 with two 1.25-GHz DSP cores, delivering up to 80 GMACs and 40 GFLOPs, and the C6655 and C6654 single-core for up to 40 GMACs and 20 GLOPS, and 27.2 GMACs and 13.6 GLOPS, respectively. Power numbers are 3.5W, 2.5W and 2W, respectively; they have large on-chip memory coupled with a high-bandwidth external memory controller. Texas www.ti.com/multicore Instruments, 2-W compact AC/DC modules  A series of 12 AC/DC encapsulated power modules for space-constrained applications, the 1-W VSK-S1 and the 2-W VSK-S2 ranges, come in compact 0.8 in3 packages measuring 33.7 x 22.2 x 18 mm. No-load power consumption is 100 mW, and input range is 85 to 305 Vac: up to 78% efficient, with an operating temperature range of -25 to 70 degrees C, the power supplies feature low ripple and noise. The 1W and 2W families have out- put voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15 and 24 Vdc. Protections for over voltage, short circuit and over temperature are included. Additionally, all models are 3 kVac isolated, carry CE and UL/cUL 60950-1 safety certifications, and are compliant with the EN 55022 Class B EMI standard. The VSK series is available immediately through Digi-Key with prices starting at $7.88 per unit (1,000). CUI, www.cui.com www.edn-europe.com AUGUST 2012 | EDN EuropE 41 http://emea.kontron.com/products/boards+and+mezzanines/embedded+motherboards/miniitx+motherboards/ktt30mitx http://www.ti.com/multicore http://www.cui.com http://www.edn-europe.com
