The range of CHOFORM FIP (form-in-place) conductive gaskets use either thermoset or RTV curing with a range of conductive particle technologies to protect against galvanic activity and can eliminate the need for nickel or tin plating and secondary environmental gaskets. ChomeriCs www.epn-online.com/search?search_keyword=47392 indings of National Instruments’ research into test and measurement technologies and methodologies are collated in the 2012 Automated Test Outlook. The report is Based on academic and industry research, user forums and surveys, it details trends affecting consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace and defence, medical devices and communications industries. NAtioNAl iNstrumeNts F www.epn-online.com/search?search_keyword=47391 axim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX44000, a digital ambient-light and IR proximity sensor IC that detects light like a human eye. With the company’s bipolar CMOS technology, the IC features three optical sensors, two ADCs, and digital functionality, which are integrated into a 6pin ultra thin, dual flat, no-leads, opto-exposed pad package measuring 2x2x0.6mm. The sensor IC consumes 5µA, when the ambient light sensor is activated and 7µA when both the proximity sensor and ambient light sensor are activated. This low-power usage of the sensor IC extends the lifetime of an application’s battery, according to the company. The proximity sensor can sense an object within a certain distance during a call or any other preset event. Once a sensed signal is received, the proximity sensor is run through a DC ambient, infra-red rejection, front-end circuit and sent to an ADC. This process is claimed to allow the sensor IC to operate in the presence of large amounts of DC IR radiation. By using a single-pulse technique for pulsing the external IR LED, the sensor is immune to fixed-frequency external IR radiation, according to the company. The sensor IC operates between -40 and +105°C and is suitable for use in touchscreen applications, including smartphones, portable devices, industrial sensors, and presence detection. mAxim M entek has introduced a member of its Onyx family of XMC (express mezzanine card) modules. The model 71760, four-channel, 16bit, 200MHz ADC XMC module is based on the Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA family. The XMC module has high memory capacity, good logic performance and I/O bandwidth. The module and is suitable for unmanned aerial vehicles, radar and communications. The XMC module also features an external sample clock synchronisation and a VITA 42.0 XMC-compatible switched fabric interface. The DDR3 memory of XMC module features a size and speed of 4Gbyte and 1600MHz, respectively. The module’s PCIe interface has been upgraded to Gen 3, delivering peak speeds up to 8Gbyte/s. The FPGA is available pre-configured with a suite of built-in functions for data capture, synchronisation, tagging and formatting, making the XMC module a suitable turn-key interface for radar, communications or general data acquisitions. For systems that require custom functions, IP can be developed using the Xilinx ISE design software and the company’s GateFlow FPGA design kit. The Onyx architecture includes enhanced FPGA loading modes to simplify live reconfiguration, according to the company.
