Specialty Graphic Imaging Association 2013 Market Trends & Product Specialties Report The 2013 SGIA Market Trends & Product Specialties Survey was conducted between June 4 and June 28, 2013. The data presented in this report is culled from the responses of 136 US sign and graphics producers. Companies in General Technology Mix Companies in the graphics and sign community primarily serve business-to-business customers. More than 85 percent of companies primarily serve these types of customers, while only 12 percent primarily serve business-to-consumer customers. Companies in this sector have a wide reach. In fact, more than 50 percent reported serving customers nationally, and nearly a quarter serve international accounts. The influence of digital printing technology is strong in this sector, and more than 68 percent of companies classified themselves as “entirely digital” or “multi-technology, but mostly digital,” as compared to the 11 percent who classified themselves as “multitechnology, but mostly analog” or “entirely analog.” Digitally printed products are produced by 97 percent of sign and graphics producers; screen printed products are the second most commonly produced, at 53 percent, and litho/offset products at 26.7 percent. Other imaging technologies are also used. While the annual revenue of companies in the sign and graphics community varies widely, nearly 50 percent of companies have annual revenue of between $250,000 and $5 million.
