Pulled and shredded meat
products reflect passion for
barbecue in convenient form

shreds, but that's not such a bad thing.
Shredded and pulled meat products encompassing different proteins and sauces
are, in another real and literal way, a hot commodity. In addition to new product
introductions, the sector is benefitting from overall interest in barbecue.
On the foodservice side, barbecue remains a big trend. According to market
research firm Technomic, the barbecue category within fast-casual chain restaurants
is a $141 million business, continually growing in popularity. The National Restaurant
Association kept barbecue on its list of "What's Hot in 2014", which was determined
by a survey of culinary professionals. In that survey, nearly two-thirds (63%) of
foodservice industry respondents agreed that barbecue is a perennial favorite.
