Dairy Business News WhiteWave moves ahead on sustainability initiatives by 2010. The company achieved the goal by improving herd, soil and pasture management, and incorporating energy efficiency measures, WhiteWave said. The company now aims to accomplish a 25% reduction in G.H.G. emissions by 2013. WhiteWave also has met its goal of a 30% reduction in tonnes of waste to landfill, primarily through stepping up recycling programs and increasing material efficiency at its production facilities. Implementing a series of equipment updates and efficiency improvements identified by on-site water audits has allowed the company to reduce non-ingredient water consumption by 5% compared with 2008 consumption, WhiteWave said. The company now is working to achieve its goal of 15% reduction by 2013. WhiteWave recently received the Energy Star label at its corporate headquarters for the fourth consecutive year. The Energy Star label recognizes companies that have buildings that demonstrate measurable cost savings in operation and improve the quality of the environment.
