The average of prereport trade estimates for the 2015 crop was 3,912 million bus. The U.S.D.A. raised its soybean crop forecast in each of its Crop Production reports since August. The August report contained its first survey-based forecast of the year. Based on Nov. 1 conditions, the U.S.D.A. forecast the national average soybean yield in 2015 at a record 48.3 bus per acre. Record yields were forecast for Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, South Dakota and Tennessee. Still, it was the third-largest crop on record, and the 2015 official estimate exceeded the average of pre-report trade estimates at 13,556 million bus. Meanwhile, the U.S.D.A. confirmed the dismal outlook for U.S. wheat exports forecasting 2015-16 wheat exports at 800 million bus, down 50 million bus from the October projection, down 54 million bus from the piddling 2014-15 outgo and the lowest since 1971-72. With other 2015-16 wheat supply and demand forecasts unchanged from October, the lower export forecast resulted in a 50-million-bu hike in the forecast for the wheat carryover on June 1, 2016, to 911 million bus, up 158 million bus, or 21%, from 753 million bus in 2015. The forecast wheat carryover would be the largest since 976 million bus in 2009-10 and would compare with the recent five-year average carryover supply at 733 million bus.
