People  With Cargill c.f.o. resignation, David MacLennan to fill in MINNEAPOLIS — Sergio Rial, chief financial officer at Cargill, will resign his post with the company effective at the end of November in order to return to his native Brazil for personal reasons. David MacLennan, president and chief operating officer, will serve as interim c.f.o. until Cargill’s board of directors elects a successor. Mr. MacLennan joined Cargill in 1991 and has held management positions within the financial, risk management, energy and animal protein businesses. He previously was c.f.o. from 2008 to 2011. While in the interim role, Mr. MacLennan will continue as the company’s president and c.o.o. “Since joining us in 2004, Sergio has energized our growth in Latin America and provided vigorous and thoughtful leadership as a member of the Cargill leadership team and board of directors and as chief financial officer,” said Greg Page, chairman and chief executive officer. Mr. Rial was a leader of Cargill’s group of food businesses since 2004 and of Cargill’s financial services businesses since 2009. He became a senior vice-president and member of the Cargill leadership team in 2009. He also was the company’s regional director for Latin America and executive chairman of CarVal Investors, an independently managed Cargill subsidiary. He was elected to the Cargill board of directors in 2010 and elected c.f.o. in 2011. Mr. Lastra most recently was vice-president of business growth at ADM, and earlier was president of ADM South America. He joined ADM in 1994 and has held a range of merchandising, operations and logistics management roles. MBN Brad Pederson named supply chain manager at Caravan Ingredients LENEXA, KAS. — Brad Pederson has been named supply chain manager for Caravan Ingredients. In this role, Mr. Pederson will manage the corporate demand planning and APS functions at Caravan Ingredients. He also will be responsible for leading Caravan Ingredient’s through stock-keeping unit optimization, collaborative planning and inventory optimization. Mr. Pederson brings to the company extensive experience with supply chain functions. He has held various leadership roles with The Timken Co., including demand Pederson ADM taps two for management positions DECATUR, ILL. — Gary Towne and Domingo Lastra have been named to new management positions at Archer Daniels Midland Co., effective Nov. 5. Mr. Towne has been named vicepresident of ADM Corn Processing. He most recently was chairman of the management board of Alfred C. Toepfer International G.m.b.H.
