Mondelez International to
roll out Oreos in Russia
MOSCOW - Mondelez International
celebrated a major milestone with the
introduction of its first "made-in-Russia" Oreos. The cookies, which will
be available in Russia in October, are
being produced on
an upgraded manufacturing line at the
company's plant in
Sobinka, Russia.
The roll-out of the
cookies is part of
Mondelez's
larger
global growth strategy, which includes expanding the
company's iconic power brands to
new markets. Mondelez International
is already the No. 1 biscuit maker in
Russia with such brands as Jubilee,
Barni and TUC.
"Oreo is the world's No. 1 biscuit, so

this represents a major snacking milestone for the Russian market," said Hossam Ashour, general manager for Mondelez Rus L.L.C. "Now consumers in
Russia will be able to
enjoy these legendary
cookies, experience
the world-famous ritual of 'twist, lick and
dunk' and love them
as they are loved the
world over. In addition, producing Oreo
in Russia will make
these delicious treats
more accessible to local consumers and
help expand Russia's biscuits market."
Oreos will be available in retail outlets across Russia in three formats: a
38-gram package for individual consumption, and larger 95-gram and

General Mills to sell South
African food service business
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
- Rhodes Food Group Pty. Ltd., a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Rhodes
Food Group Holdings Ltd., has agreed
to acquire the food service operation
business assets of General Mills South
Africa Pty. Financial terms of the
transaction were not disclosed.
General Mills launched its South African food service business in 1995 and
conducts its manufacturing business
from an automated facility in Johannesburg. Its products are distributed

nationally, primarily to the convenience
channel, and include dry and frozen
bakery products such as Tubeset muffin batters, croissants, cinnamon rolls,
place-and-bake frozen preformed cookies, frozen pizzas, dry bakery mixes and
ready-to-eat muffins.
The board of Rhodes Food Group
said the acquisition presents an attractive investment opportunity that is
aligned with its strategy of expanding
its business operations through value
accretive acquisitions. MBN

London court rules Tate & Lyle
should pay $27.3 million
LONDON - The Commercial Court in
London on Sept. 29 awarded damages
of £18 million ($27.3 million) to American Sugar Refining, Inc. in relation to
claims A.S.R. made after its 2010 acquisition of Tate & Lyle's European Union
sugar business, according to Londonbased Tate & Lyle. Interest and costs
will be determined in due course.
Tate & Lyle said it will report the
judgment's impact as an exceptional
item within discontinued operations.
American Sugar Refining in 2010
paid £211 million for Tate & Lyle's
E.U. sugar business. The acquisition

included a license for the use of the
Tate & Lyle brand in connection with
the sale of sugar as well as refineries in
London and Lisbon, Portugal.
Tate & Lyle included information on
the E.U. sugar business issue when giving financial results for the fiscal year
ended March 31, 2015. A.S.R. raised a
number of claims totaling about £40
million that in large part related to the
turbulence in raw sugar supply to the
European Union during the period prior to closing and the increase in certain
rolling re-export commitments of the
