Lancaster Colony to grow in baking
with Angelic Bakehouse acquisition

with the company and continue

Ms. Marino said Angelic Bakehouse
will continue to produce the same
products, but as part of the Lancaster
portfolio the company will be able
to accelerate its commitment to new
and innovative sprouted grain products that feature the company's proprietary sprouted mash ingredient.
The company's product line includes
sliced bread, dinner rolls, pizza crusts

and wraps, and in September the company launched its first snack and deli
line of sprouted bread crisps.
In addition, she said Angelic Bakehouse will look to increase its national
product distribution and make its
baked foods available to a much larger

national audience. In October, Angelic
Bakehouse announced it would be offering its products in more than 100
SuperTarget stores across the United
States.

platform to sweet goods lineup
ST. LOUIS - Sweet goods and pastries are not uncommon at Panera
Bread Co. - the company has offered
such products as cookies, scones, cinnamon rolls and brownies for years.
But beginning next January, the company plans to roll out a new reimagined artisan cookie program.

Panera Bread's current cookie line includes
several varieties, including Cinnamon
Crunch Snickerdoodle.

more food-forward ingredient stories and are 100% clean," Ron Shaich,
founder, chairman and chief executive
officer, said during an Oct. 26 conference call with analysts. "They come
in a variety of flavors, sizes and price
points, and they are displayed using
more elevated merchandising. Customer desire for these cookies was high in
our test cafes, and we are excited about
their potential to help establish Panera
as a better competitive alternative."
Panera's menu currently features
several varieties of cookies, including Cinnamon Crunch Snickerdoodle,
Gluten-Conscious Monster Cookie
with Nuts, Gluten-Conscious Triple
Chocolate Cookie with Walnuts, Chocolate Chipper, oatmeal raisin, candy,

The transaction is expected to
close later this month, funded
internally with cash on hand.
Angelic Bakehouse has annual
sales of approximately $12 million.
In the most recent year ended June
30, Lancaster Colony had net income
of $121.8 million on sales of $1,191
million. The company's most recent
acquisition was a March 2015 $92.2
million purchase of Flatout Holdings,
Inc., a baker of flatbread wraps and
pizza crusts based in Saline, Mich.
In addition to two locations in Saline, Lancaster Colony operates grainbased plants in Altoona, Iowa (frozen
pasta); two plants in Bedford Heights,
Ohio (frozen bread); Luverne, Ala.
(frozen rolls); and Wareham, Mass.

during 2016 IBIE
CHICAGO - The Long Company
Bakery Cooperative held its annual
shareholders meeting during the International Baking Industry Exposition
in Las Vegas. The company awarded
three bakeries during the proceedings.
The Holsum Silver Cup for Best
Holsum Brand White Bread went to
Gold Medal Bakery, Fall River, Mass.
This allows the company to display
the Silver Cup logo on its Holsum
packaging for the next 12 months.
Best in Bread was given to The
Kroger Bakery, Anderson, S.C., and
Schwebel Baking, Hebron, Ohio,
won the Gold Cup for Best Buns.
