IOI Loders Croklaan to expand
facility in Ontario
IOI Loders Croklaan, Channahon, Ill., will expand its
production facility in Rexdale, Ont. New deodorization
capacity will complement recent additions in bleaching
and oil processing. New assets are designed to address
expected future mitigation requirements for contaminants
such as MCPD and glycidyl esters.
The Rexdale refinery supplies specialty fats and oils
to customers in Canada and the northeast United States,
said Bill Troy, North America chief operating officer at
IOI Loders Croklaan.
"The new assets, scheduled to be commissioned in July
2017, demonstrate the commitment to the Canadian and
northeast U.S. markets and meeting the growing demand
from these regions," he said. "The expansion strengthens
our North American manufacturing footprint and provides
the path to offer these regions with a wider selection of our
industry-leading solutions and brands such as SansTrans
bakery shortenings, Freedom Series confectionery fats and
Coberine branded cocoa butter equivalents."

partnership with Sweet Green Fields
Tate & Lyle, P.L.C., London, globally will deliver
stevia ingredients and systems through an exclusive
partnership with Sweet Green Fields, L.L.C.,
Bellingham, Wash.

Cargill launches I.P. process for
non-G.M.O. ingredients
Cargill, Minneapolis, now has a KnownOrigins identity
preservation process that allows food and beverage
manufacturers to source the ingredients they need to
deliver non-bioengineered/non-G.M.O. products.
Key features of KnownOrigins include traceability back
to producers and testing to verify non-G.M.O. status.
Testing is performed on either harvest bin composites,
incoming truck deliveries or the finished ingredient.
"Cargill's combination of the industry's broadest
portfolio of non-G.M.O. ingredients, well-established
crop sourcing programs and our KnownOrigins identity
preservation process enables our customers to scale
production with confidence and get to market quickly with

ADM launches sweetener brands featuring stevia, monk fruit
Archer Daniels Midland Co., Chicago, is introducing
two sweetener brands: SweetRight stevia and VerySweet
monk fruit. The sweeteners will be sourced through ADM's
partnership with GLG Life Tech Corp., Richmond, B.C.
SweetRight offers a range of stevia
ingredients extracted from the stevia leaf
using a proprietary process. The plant-based
sweeteners are Generally Recognized As Safe
(GRAS) and up to 250 times as sweet as sugar.
They blend well with other sweeteners, and
they are process and shelf stable. SweetRight
sweeteners are available in three forms: RA,
RA granular and EMS enzymatically modified
stevia.
VerySweet sweeteners are sourced from luo han guo fruit
and are up to 200 times as sweet as sugar. The sweeteners

are GRAS and may be used alone, blended or as part of a
complete sweetening system.
SweetRight and VerySweet join VivaSweet sucralose in
ADM's sweetener portfolio.
