PRESIDENT

As I move into my second term as president of the Research Chefs
Association (RCA), I am excited about the future. We had an amazing conference in Savannah, Ga., this spring - I left inspired and
reinvigorated to innovate and create. With 1,200 plus attendees,
over 40 speakers and more than 140 exhibitors all in one place,
we surrounded ourselves with so many talented individuals who
are excited for what is to come. Many RCA members have already
taken advantage of the RCA Learning Library and our OnDemand
Learning Center, which features each education session from the
conference. This is an ideal resource for accessing sessions you
may have missed and for earning certification credits.
The RCA Education Committee is developing additional learning
opportunities for our members in the year-round education
program, including webinars, whitepapers and regional education
events. We also plan to bring our Culinology programs together
again this fall in our second annual Higher Education Summit.
This is another way to stay connected with the educators who are
inspiring future product developers.
I hope you are looking forward to learning about fermented foods
and international flavors in this issue, which continue to be growing
trends. These features provide deeper insights into our industry's
hot topics which will continue to drive your passion for product
development and may spur some new ideas. Also, don't miss our
RCA member spotlight on Eric Iserman from Save-A-Lot.
Summer is here and it is heating up as we continue to propel the
organization forward with a strategic plan that focuses on offering
the best membership value, broadening our brand and maintaining
a solid financial footing. We have several regional networking events
planned for this summer and RCA will have a presence at many of
the summer conferences, so make sure to review the RCA calendar
of events and stay connected throughout the season.
The 2019 conference location is Louisville, Ky., where we will
"Savor the Spirit of RCA." If you thought Savannah was awesome,
let me tell you that we are already planning 2019 and
have some great speakers and events lined
up. The food in Louisville is remarkable
and our host committee is working
hard to make sure we have the
best experience in one of the top
trending food cities. So make
sure you mark your calendars for
March 13-15, 2019 as it will surely
be the best three days in food.
