Innovative and Educational … are just two of the words that can be used to describe SNAXPO 2011 in Orlando, FL. BY BOB GATTY I t was a busy, fast-paced, vibrant SNAXPO 2011 that had a sell-out crowd of more than 1,100 snack food executives and suppliers from 38 countries buzzing, and after three days of educational sessions, business development opportunities and networking, they are now back at their businesses implementing what they learned. “This is the place to be if you are in the snack food business,” said Tom Dempsey, president, Utz Quality Foods, Inc., Hanover, PA , as the exhibit hall opened March 21 in Orlando, FL. “Innovation, contacts, friends, invaluable information — it’s all here at this show.” That’s exactly what proved to be the case. Attendees and exhibitors alike raved about the content, the format, the location and the results of their three-day investment at SNAXPO. “We are delighted with the response,” said Snack Food Association (SFA) president and CEO Jim McCarthy. “We are off to a great start for our 75th anniversary show in 2012.” That event will be held March 1619 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, AZ. Besides meeting friends, customers and associates on the exhibit hall floor, SNAXPO attendees heard an outstanding array of speakers, both in high-level general session presentations and in concurrent educational seminars. A highlight was the presentation on March 23 by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who called for reforms in the areas of energy, immigration, government regulations and education.
