Supplier’s Corner Suppliers Get Value from SFA T ALMOND his month marks the fourth and final 75th anniversary edition of Snack World, your quarterly membership magazine. By the time you receive this publication, we will have experienced our national election, the results of which will help shape the course of our industry’s future. The Snack Food Association (SFA) will continue to work with our elected leaders to represent the interests of our member companies. The new Snack School, formerly the SFA Management Development Program, was developed in partnership with the Food Marketing Department at Saint Joseph’s University and featured more in-depth education sessions specifically for sales and marketing personnel. I want to join SFA Chairman Scott Smith and SFA President and CEO Jim McCarthy in thanking Saint Joseph’s University and SFA’s Management Development Committee for all their hard work in developing this new program. SFA again was the exclusive partner sponsor of the Baking-Snack Break lounge at the 2012 Pack Expo held in late October in Chicago, IL. This provided SFA associate members an opportunity to engage snack food manufacturers and meet other suppliers to the industry. This was SFA’s second year partnering with PMMI in hosting this Baking-Snack Break lounge at Pack Expo. Each of these programs provided SFA associate members with opportunities to get involved and engage our industry. During the past year, we have celebrated many of the snack food industry and SFA milestones since the founding of the Potato Chip Institute, now SFA, in 1937. The industry continues to evolve, and as it moves forward, we continue to develop unique programs that allow our associate members to network with our customers. As I mentioned in my previous letter, many opportunities still exist for suppliers to get involved in our industry through SFA. The growth of our industry and success of our association is because of your continued support, effort and participation. As we look to 2013, I wish everyone a joyous holiday season and encourage all our associate members to get involved.
