LETTER FROM SFA MANN SINGLETON Chairman's Note of Thanks I wanted to communicate to the membership ("all ya'll" for the Texans) some of the great things that happened in 2014. Russia invading Crimea, the popularity of twerking and $1.99 gas prices all were events I did not expect to see during this year. What I did expect was big changes at the SFA, and I was not disappointed. The SFA board asked Tom Dempsey to lead the association in the hope that he would reinvigorate and reinvent the organization. He and his team have far exceeded our sky high expectations. Our new member education program puts the leadings experts in our industry in direct contact with you and your teams for free. That's right, free. We are talking about training and education on topics which are critical to you and your companies - food safety, labeling requirements, HAACP and numerous other subjects were covered this year, and we have an even better line-up planned for 2015. We have led the fight on GMO education and labeling for the food industry. Tom testified before Congress, laying out our side of the issues and getting buy-in from numerous congressional leaders during the hearing. Without this leadership, we will be burdened with new labeling requirements, adding costs and complexities to our businesses that we cannot afford. SFA is focused on growth, attracting numerous new business and associate members in 2015. We are more aggressive than at any time in recent history, actively pursuing new members and making our value proposition the best ever. Just as important, the team has been good stewards of our association, running a healthy surplus financially while drastically increasing the offerings and value for the members. I want to extend my thanks to Tom, Liz Wells and the whole SFA team for making 2014 fun, impactful and easy. You all have amazed me with your energy, ideas and results. Over the next month or so, you will be seeing additional communication on attending SNAXPO 2015 in Orlando. This event will reflect the new energy and direction of the SFA, and I heartily encourage you to attend and bring more people than you have in the past. You will not be disappointed. Thanks again for the opportunity to be your Chairman and for a great 2014!
