LETTER FROM SFA MANN DEMPSEY MANN MORGAN Engaged and Energized S FA's three pillars of advocacy, education and networking were in full force the past two months. Beginning with the Executive Leadership Forum (ELF) at The Greenbrier in September and concluding with the Emerging Leaders Program at Georgetown University in October, SFA members were engaged and energized. We won't go into the details of the programs since they are covered in-depth later in this issue, but we would like to highlight the work that continues on our issues advocacy. SFA, through our support of the Safe and Affordable Food Coalition, participated in a special Washington, DC fly-in on Oct. 7 visiting senators and congressmen to advocate for a federal law to preempt a patchwork of state GMO labeling laws. SFA members were the second highest in attendance. We urge all of our members to contact their senators to support the companion bill to the one the House passed in August. We'd also like to welcome all of the new members that are listed below. The value of SFA membership continues to resonate in the industry. Educational programs for all levels, networking opportunities at all events and the very important advocacy on critical issues are what SFA membership is all about.
