A Snack Rebellion

ast year, BFY Brands, Liberty, NY, launched the
Our Little Rebellion brand - a giant leap forward in its mission to pioneer a new generation of better-for-you snacks that taste amazing. The
company's cornerstone line - PopCorners - became
so wildly popular that it decided to create similarly innovative products, leading to the creation of Our Little
Rebellion. The brand includes PopCorners and new
products like Protein Crisps and Bean Crisps.
"We're on a mission to prove that health and taste
can coexist," said Dan Morgan, president and chief
sales officer, BFY Brands. Mr. Morgan, a past chairman of SNAC International, has a long history in the
snack industry, including leadership experience with
Snyder's-Lance and Patriot Snacks. "Our popped snacks
are not only delicious, but they unite bold flavors with
minimally processed, non-GMO ingredients. Every snack
we've ever made, and will continue to make, stays true
to our mission."
That mission is supported by the passionate group
of snack lovers at BFY Brands united by the common
goal of bringing delicious, better-for-you products to
consumers. The entire team is innovative by nature
and plays an active role in developing new flavors and
guiding the future of the business. "We're lucky to have
a team of seasoned food and beverage veterans that
can operate nimbly like an entrepreneurial startup. It
makes it easy to innovate and bring products to market
quickly," Mr. Morgan said.

Since its inception, BFY Brands has capitalized on
consumers' desire for transparency. The increasing
demand for non-GMO ingredients presented opportunities for the company, but it also created a major challenge. According to the US Department of Agriculture,
only 8% of the US corn supply is non-GMO. When BFY
Brands launched Our Little Rebellion, it created a completely new non-GMO corn supply chain by partnering
with 59 small-scale family farmers in Nebraska.
"Our new supply chain was a historic moment for us
and for the industry," Mr. Morgan said. "It enabled us
to not only source millions of tons of GMO-free corn
for our products but also scale availability of GMO-free
corn for other food and beverage manufacturers. It was
a massive undertaking that many told us couldn't be
done and something I'm incredibly proud of our team
for accomplishing it in a very short period of time."
BFY Brands also recognizes that today's consumers
increasingly prefer clean labels and products that deliver
in flavor. According to Mintel, 74% of millennials want to
see more transparency in their food. The ingredients in
products such as Bean Crisps and Protein Crisps range
from GMO-free corn, black beans and yellow split peas to
other plant-based ingredients that are high in protein.
Our Little Rebellion boasts a vast range of flavors,
from sweet options like Carnival Kettle PopCorners to
spicy offerings like Cha-Cha Chili Bean Crisps and globally-inspired Wasabi Ginger with Honey Protein Crisps.
