ALMOND USAGE INFORMATION
Nut consumers prefer almonds
most in new products, according
to research from Almond Board
of California, and food producers
have made them the No. 1 nut used
in new products globally. Almonds
not only answer this consumer preference, but they also add a distinct
butter flavor and satisfying crunch
to baked foods and snacks. The
board's website provides formulas
and technical information, including grades, styles, forms, specs and
storage recommendations.

SLURRY CONTINUOUS MIXER
The Spray Dynamics new Slurry On
Demand continuous mixer from Heat
and Control ends the waste and
delay normally required to produce
pumpable slurries of oil-based
seasonings, chocolate and other
coatings. It accurately mixes powders
and liquids to create homogeneous
lump-free slurries. Featuring
sanitary polished 304 stainless
steel construction, the mixer is built
with a full-length hinged clamshell
cover providing complete access for
cleaning. A NEMA 4 stainless steel
control console with variable-speed
adjuster and digital readout can ramp
up mixing speeds to 1,350 RPM.

SPARKLING MATTE LOOK
Printpack offers a matte finish
option that lets snack manufacturers
customize their packaging using
different inner substrate selections.
Options include a papery quality
with a white inner web or a silky-satin
finish achieved with a metalized web.
Customers can further accentuate
the look by combining them with a
metallic appearance using selected
colors. They can also put both matte
and glossy technologies on the
same package.

SCALE PARTS WASHERS
Douglas Machines Corp. expanded
its line of scale parts washers by
adding a compact economy model
that minimizes the need for mezzanine modifications and helps
overcome clearance issues. Parts
are loaded at the weigh station and
transported to the washer on specialized slide-in/slide-out wash racks
mounted on a convenient transport
dolly. This feature protects the parts
during transfer and extends their
lifespan by reducing the number of
times the parts are handled.
The typical wash/rinse cycle takes
five minutes.
